Now? Now fighters who don't play the game will be out of a job.   Now everyone involved with MMA will have no leverage if they need to work out a deal with the UFC. Now fight fans who were getting the opportunity to watch a  company grow and get interesting are going to be stuck with a monolith.

There is no doubt that the UFC is now the NFL of MMA.

I mean there has to be a few good things out these besides matchmaking lol :'( Women's MMA will take a blow I think but is a north american fighters union a realistic thing now? I  remember talk of it but it was to hard but now is it possible. This is crazy! I see it only a matter of time till Strikeforce is gone.

Strikeforce has to be around until the Showtime deal is done which, I believe, is mid-2012.

Dana also stated in the interview that they did this deal because they need more fighters. The UFC will absorbe Strikeforce as quickly as possible, probably by mid 2012 as Keith pointed out. One of the positive results of this deal is that the chances that we will see a heavyweight tournament champion crowned are a lot higher now.
