THIS TOURNAMENT IS PUT ON LAST MINUTE BECAUSE ANOTHER TOURNAMENT IN CALGARY WAS CANCELLED. ALL THE PROCEEDS FROM THIS TOURNAMENT ARE GOING TO BE DONATED TO OUR DEAR FRIEND IGOR VASILJEVIC WHO WAS STABBED IN AN ALTERCATION AT A CONCERT IN CALGARY 1 MONTH AGO. THIS BRUTAL AND UNWARRANTED ATTACH HAS MADE IGOR HAVE TO FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE AND WAS IN A COMA FOR 3 WEEKS. NOW HE IS RECOVERING FROM HIS PHYSICAL AND MENTAL INJURIES AND WILL NEED MUCH SUPPORT. WE ARE TAKING THE OPPORTUNITY TO RUN THIS TOURNAMENT SO WE CAN HELP IGOR ON HIS LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY. IGOR WAS A MEMBER AT BDB AND WE REALLY HOPE HE WILL BE ABLE TO COME BACK ONE DAY. COMPETITOR FEES AND SPECTATOR FEES WILL ALL BE DONATED TO IGOR.

Admission:

$30 for competitors (Cash Only Please)

$5 for spectators (Cash Only Please)

This No-Gi tournament is designed to provide competitors with a lot of experience; it will follow a round robin format ensuring that each competitor fights everyone in his division once. Guaranteeing the competitor the most for their money!

Point System:

Each fight will be scored as either a draw or a win by submission. There will be no points given out during the match.

You will receive:

- 3 points for a win by submission

- 1 point for a draw

- 0 for a loss

Each competitor will fight every other competitor in their weight class once. Your total points will then be added together to determine your score for the day. The competitors with the 3 highest scores in each division will receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.

Rules:

- 5 Minute rounds

- This No-Gi tournament will be open to all competitors.

- The cost to enter is $30.00 (Cash Only Please!) Once the fights start there are no refunds.

- Matches start from standing.

- Fighters who move onto or outside the border when standing can (at the discretion of the referee) be restarted in the centre of the mat.

- If fighters move outside the area while on the ground (both fighters have at least one knee down) then the action is frozen and they are moved back to the centre of the mat in their current position.

- Deliberately or repeatedly moving outside the area will be considered as stalling and penalized accordingly.

- The referee can stop or restart a match at any time if he considers it necessary for safety reasons.

- The referee's decision is final and non-negotiable.

Ways to win:

- Submission (physical or verbal tap-out)

- Referees Stoppage (medical or rule infringement)

- Corner stops fight.

Fouls & Illegal Techniques:

- Striking

- Biting

- Fish hooking

- Gouging (including chin in eye socket, thumb in armpit or between ribs etc)

- Hair pulling

- Heel hooks (or other locks designed to apply twisting pressure to the knee)

How did this tournament work out? I wish I could have made it but it was just bad timing for me.
