I wonder if Showtime even shows up for this fight or if he gets cold feet again like he did against Heit.

I'm not much of a gambler, but I know how motivated showtime will be for this fight.
Going to be very entertaining and exciting

I am just following the trend of weight misses. For the last weigh in at AFC, Wedderburn was reported by his buddy Chris at being at weight about two weeks before the show, than missed drastically.
What makes you think he will change his ways (bassed on last 3 weigh ins) for this fight with Boots? I understand there is a bit of a grudge here, but Wedderburn has set-up many of his fights with a little trash talk, how is this one different? If he made himself so sick that he puked up blood the last time he tried to make 170, I am not sure what he's been up to in the mean time to ensure that it'll be easier this time around.
I don't doubt Wedderburn's skills, I think he's talented. I just seruiously have to question his choice of weight class.
I don't know this guy from a hole in the ground, wouldn't be able to recognize him on the street, I just base my opions and picks on previous showings.

you are basing it on the past few fights. Not the most fair assumption.
I've known Markhaille a long time and he's tweaking his game and will be lighter going into his cut this time.
I've never met Chris, but am basing my opinion on my conversations with Markhaille.
For one thing, he's not going to want to give up 50% of his purse by not making weight.

I think making predictions based on fighters last couple showings is the only way to do it. It's an essential part of match-making, as you are more than aware.
Alot of people still beleive a guys is only as good as his last fight. I am not a bleiever in this theory, but what do you rank or judge a fighter on if not his most recent showings?

If you dont' know the fightesr, then it would be the only way to do it :)
So you didn't predict BJ Penn would blow through Hughes since he wasn't able to do very well against Edgar twice?
Dont' get me started on matchmaking.

It's not about what I know about it.
It's the lack of matchmaking everybody else seems to have out there. From other promotions to commissions who approve them.
I would put Quinn against anybody at 135 from Alberta in a heartbeat.

Hi I'm Markhaille Wedderburn. Mark Holst and I step into the ring at WRECK MMA on January 28th. I'll make weight or your money back! That's the Wedderburn guarantee!

I seriously thought Hughes was going to destroy BJ, but of course I was rooting for Penn. I think eve if you know the fighters, you have to follow the trend of their performance. But, it only takes one big win to turn everything around.
But yes, I am definitly an outsider simply looking at the record and history of the fighters. I am not saying Wedderburn doesn't have a chance against Boots, as I think this is a challenging fight for both guys, a win for either will put them on track for another serious fight. The only call I am making, looking at the history, is that showtime should be fighting at 185.
I will let him prove me wrong though. It's not that I am against him, or hope that he misses, because I would be much happier to see the guy show up, make weight and jump right back in the higher levels of the 170 scene. He has earned it with the fights he's taken in the past.
Even if he does make weight, he is going to have a serious size advantage over Holst.
