There's lots and lots of people in MMA circles asking me over the last couple of days, so I'll just plop it here.
Yep, I am battling Thyroid Cancer.
Thank you to all my friends in MMA for all the nice emails and texts and stuff. It's super appreciated.
Thyroid cancer is the common cold of cancers, and 90% plus of people have full recoveries. I'm not at all intimidated by this, and I'll kick its ass within a couple months.
I get my thyroid destroyed by some quick blasts of radiation, then I get meds for the rest of my life to simulate the metabolic processes of the thyroid gland and I'm all good.
If anyone has any experience with radiation, I'd love to hear it, cuz I'm a touch scared about that. Other than that, all good. I'll have this thing beat within a couple months. No big deal.
I only plop this info here cuz lotsa people asked me about it last couple days, and I have lotsa friends here. No "god bless"es or "best of luck"s required. I'm all good here.
I was hoping to fight again in MMA, but I might not get to do that because of this. Drag, because fighting is the greatest thing in the world to me, but I am incredibly thankful that I get the opportunity to work with fighters and call fights, as my love for that job is so deep that it should be illegal.
Anyhoo, like I said, this is really no biggie. Its just a quick setback, and most everyone beats this. I definitely will.
