What is up with Mike Davis rematches?

Mike Davis just beat Cory Knapp in a rematch on Oct 1.
On November 21 he fights Matt Knysh is another rematch.
On December 4 he fights Tony Bibby in another rematch.

Seems like first Bibby fight is the only one that was rematch worthy.

Good question, I was wondering the same thing.

Bibby rematch should be a good one.

Good question Bobby. Worrying about local challenges is fairly pointless. "Guy A in town called me out" is something you should normally ignore.

Although, if guys that you know you can beat want rematches, and those W's help at this point, what-the-hell. Mike's young. Rack 'em up my man.

Go beat them again. Fights are sometimes hard to come by. Take 'em where you get 'em. You're a smart dude.

Bibby did call out Mike Davis after he defeated Josh Ladouceur at KOTC Lockdown!

Well I was woundering same thing but Black is right fights are hard to come by and I will take what I can get other names did get mentioned but non of them came through and I guess people always want to have another shot at me cause they dont like loseing to a skinny little guy I guess.  As a fighter I do not make much money and I need money to be able to go ahead with my plan in the new years to be able to compete with the bigger names in mma.  Now I can sit back and not fight and not collect experiance or I can just give out the rematches and use the experiance to help me out and not only give me experiance it will provide me with more money down the road.  This way when I do step it up and face say bigger names at a show like CFC or Aggression brings in a bigger name that way I can have experiance to help me in the ring with them but also I can ask for more money.  I am very new to this sport its been 2 years and I am in middle of learning how to train and diet properly, also I am learning how to negotiate and deal with promoters while I am at it.  I do not have a manager or a super team with tons of experiance to learn off of.

I am very new and I am slowly building up as a fighter in this sport because I am in no rush to get to the top, I am young and have a lot of time…why rush?  I do not have a extensive martial arts background like some so I am building from scratch.  As someone who wants to stick this out and last in this sport I do not want to go out and fight the toughest guys right out of the get go and lose a whole bunch, thats not how you make money nor build a carrer.  I like to fight a lot and love being in the ring and at the start of the year I set a goal of fighting and grappling as much as possible and get a lot of experiance under my belt and that is what I am doing.  Finding new opponents can be hard so if its a rematch sure, they are the first fights I have been offerd and I took them.  I am learning as I go and trying not ruin something before it has a chance to start.  I dont have to explain my self but there is a honest answer more experiance, more money and I just like being in there.  I set goals for myself and I am going reach it then I have goals for next year what involve taking another slow step up in competition if all goes well with these two fights.  I failed in my Clayton Sheen so I am getting more experiance and up my game then I will try to step it up again.  Fights at 135 in Alberta are not the easyiest to come by so I will take them where I can.

Well answered Mike.  Those guys will be gunning for you so make sure you train just as hard the second time around.

Good explaination for sure Davis.

I don't think fighters should have to justify who and why or where they fight. Fighters responsablities should include training, staying healthy and leaving everything they've worked for in the cage on fight night.

It's up to the promoters to pick the matches, and justify why they've done so. If they set up a rematch, it should be because it is warrented due to controversy, or both fighters being in a place where the rematch makes sense. Rematches shouldn't happen just because fighter A called out fighter B.

I like the idea of immediate rematched only if there is controvesy or if the fighter that lossed is still the best opponent to fight again, in cases like title fights or top contention etc.

Yep, I called out Davis. Only because i can't stand losing to skinny little white kids! Anyone that seen the fight knows there was a bit of controversy that went on throught out the fight, but no big deal. I just want one more round. It doesnt look llike it will be this year though, (sigh…) i guess i will just have to keep waiting, hopefully someone can make this fight happen one day?

We are working on it. Looks more like next year though. Thats fine with me. Ryan Brigham might be a replacement he has been training with Davis i believe, but everyone says that Eric Perez would be an amazing fight to watch, and thats what i need right now, a good fight to start pushing closer to the top ranks. What do guys think?

Maybe against two guys who've won a few fights.

Eric is solidly in the top 10 with his win over Remi. Most of the guys who are now wanting to fight him are nowhere close.

When I stepped up to fight him, he was riding a wave of exciting less-technical wins over mid-level guys. I can possibly be forgiven for thinking he was just an exciting brawler at the time, and believing that there were holes in his game that a smart fighter with a good game plan might have a shot at exploiting. (I was wrong, obviously.)

But, with a VERY smart VERY technical win over Remi, I don't see how he's still being underestimated.

He's also smart and he's not getting any younger, so he's not just lookin for any fight. He is gonna want fights that are a step up now. He's probably gonna want Diego or Hardeep or even Nick Denis. (just guessing)
