The one thing I've noticed in my 2 years of being a fighter is that ticket prices seem to be getting higher and higher. And although I understand the position of promoters having to pay for renting a venue, paying fighters, paying security ect. but still unless someone who can draw a crowd like Ryan Ford isnt fighting the venues are 3/4 full at best. I really think if promoters wantto bring in a more diverse crowd and sell out their shows they need to bite the bullet and make tickets more affordable. I personally think I could sell easily 2 – 3 times more tickets if general admission was only 35$, i cant count how many times people have declined to go to one of my fights simply because they can't afford to go. And if you really think about it they'd still make more money filling seats with cheaper tickets than having a low turnout with tickets costing more.

I doubt this will cause any real change but it sure would be nice if more than just ritch people and gangsters were the ones who could afford to watch me fight.

"ritch peoplle". That Freudian slip is another reason why people don't go. They are not interested in seeing guys like Ritch on the card,,,,

Some shows are definitely over priced, but if the promoter feels that he/she can justify the prices and make money or not lose too much money then good for them.

Makes no sense to drop prices if you are selling out or doing well and feel a ticket price drop wouldn't actually bring you enough paying customers to make up for the lost ticket price drop.

I am curious, what promotion in Edmonton has the lowest priced tickets?

I agree, hell even $40 bucks sounds a lot better to people then $55 bucks.  Then when they come to show they pay $55 to watch 5 fights and it is just unfair.  Has happened twice to me, but even after that fans still come to shows but I always always think $55 is to steep…..I watched WEC for $55!!!

I would be able to sell and bring out much much larger groups of people if tickets where even $40 bucks, I mean a lot of the people I bring are from Red Deer, Edson, Hinton, Calgary.  So they pay for the drive, some get hotels and the fights, and when it comes to all that $15 bucks can make the difference of coming or not coming when you convince a group of 5 people to make a road trip up.  I hear much to offer "Cant afford"

I don't mind paying 50 or so bucks here if i am getting my money's worth. The next WRECK here is gonna have a local guy who is adored (but ugly) in Craig Brown fighting Jason Day, a former UFC cat. Right under that is another hometown hero (Holst) coming back from the UFC fighting Wedderburn, who has been a love-to-hate guy every time he has been here. I consider this value for my money.

I DID mind paying watching bums like Ebejer and Coletti get smashed and generally shit up the ring. What amazes me is that fans will still pay their hard earned dollars to see the likes of Ritch, Kalmakoff   etc fight out there repeatedly. Maybe if they brought in better fighters it wouldn't be such an affront to the ticket-buying public.

Well… fortunately I have one of the best jobs in the world and don't often buy tickets for MMA shows, lol… but I know for the KOTC shows at Rexall all the tickets are $40 general admission!

Very interesting thread. If every fighter could sell 2 to 3 times the number of tickets at $40 than at $50 (our lowest priced ticket) we would make the change in a heartbeat. Convince me!!

Really every fighter would have to sell at least 25% more tix if say the price went from $50 to $40.

Fighter A sells 40 tix at $50 = $2000

Fighter B sells 50tix at $40 = $2000

Now if the fighter can actually sell the extra amount of tickets (25% in this example) is another story…

I say I could sell so many more tickets at 40 because many people have that in their wallets and its a convienent number two twenty dollar bills. It seems much less to the average fan to pay forty dollars for a night of entertainment, and more money to spend on overpriced booze. As a fighter I could convince many more people to come as a common hiderance is the price of the ticket and could get new fans out

I know its not Edmonton but what I see in Winnipeg is that the more expensive tables seem to sell out while the much cheaper and farther away General Admission tickets do not sell as well.

It will be interesting to see how CFM does this week with their Winnipeg crowd.  They have less expensive table seats (some for $25) than CFC with a less talented card (aside from Jeff Monson).
