AFC is a fantastic promotion for both fighters and fans of MMA. Victoria has become a Mecca for Mixed Martial Arts, and if the crowd and card at Bear Mountain Arena in Colwood was any indication of MMA’s future on the island, it will continue to blow up. Thousands of loud and supportive fans were in attendance to watch the 12 fights on the AFC4: Revelation card; to see some of their MMA heroes up close and personal and to witness the development of future legends in the sport. Victoria MMA fans are just like their counterparts in anywhere, be…

Wedderburn's comments and D.O's response on D.O's FB page….. Pretty wild. I don't think I've heard a fighter go off about a promoter like this before…

AND – He calls out David "Showtime" Perron at the end…

Showtying Muaythai Wedderburn – fuck you darren im the only fucking shotime your a rokkie promoter that has no class ..you dont give a fuck about fighters i was fucking sick so now imno good for yall but you sucked my dick and begged me to fight for you, but cause i couldnt my helth ment shit 2 you you only cared about your show and now your saying s…hit about me not being showtime you fagget you got some fucking nerve….dont get tha boys ass kicked ….your such a rookie its just like your show low level

Showtying Muaythai Wedderburn – this fucking fagget has the nerve..tipical red head…fuck now im calling out david paron your next on my hit list man up and lets fight

Darren Owen – Not sure what a rokkie promoter is but, I'm glad I saved your voice message, of all the nice things you said about our organization and how you hoped I would have you back to fight again. Feel free to ask any fighter that has ever fought fo…r the AFC and how they were treated. How did your health not mean anything to me I asked if you could come so our doctors could examine you. You declined. I never questioned that you weren't feeling 100% I questioned your ability to properly manage your weight. If you can't safely cut to 170 fight at 185. I never begged you to fight for us it was you begging to get a chance to fight for our belt remember. As well I left you $60 for cab fare at the front desk for when you checked out. You never checked out you just left. Not sure how you would know that our show was "low level" as you were a NO SHOW. You did miss one hell of a KO by David "SHOWTIME" Perron.

Muaythai Wedderburn – listenloser your such a liyar man the front desk an i wer tryiny to call you all fucking night dont even try to look good my plane was 6 in the moring and you no that we had to leave by like 430 and you left shit and turned your phone off you fucking loser just take my fucking name out your mouth your not even man enough to talk the truth ….

Showtying Muaythai Wedderburn – as for david ill kill that fool dick head

As I said on the news page, I did not think the word "sorry' was going to cross the lips of Wedderburn at any point.

Robin also added a caveat a while back of "Don't you dare judge".

As of this post, I am now in full-judge mode. I will spare hyperbole and cheap shots and leave it at this: Wedderburn is coming across as a sad, desperate man.

His trash talk has always been a source of entertainment, but in a situation like this he just looks like a fool.

What is messed up is that all the while he is bashing the AFC and Darren Owen, he seems to be trying to set up an AFC fight with Perron.

If Wedderburn plans on moving up the weight class than a fight with Perron could be in the cards, but I think D.O makes it pretty clear than he won't be having Wedderburn back…

I think this is very harsh.  Ryan Machan and Thiery Quenneville and others have consistently missed weight.   Are they trash too?  How about Thiago Alves?  Lets not put Showtime into the TJ Coletti category yet.

I have not said too much about this so far, but here goes. Some random points…

1. People do not like Showtime because he is loud and a character because he desperately needs fights and he gets them by calling people out.  Its his way of marketing himself and when I have talked to him for the site and over a beer after a fight, he has always been a nice, respectful guy.  Now, he has not always been that way as he freely admits, but he has changed since the birth of his children.

2. Showtime made weight for 15 fights in a row before missing weight for the last two plus the one he pulled out of.

3. Showtime fights definitely have more electricity/excitement to them than other regional welterweight fights due to his talking and the way he gets the town he is visiting to want to see him get beat up due to his antics.   I believe that I have seen 2 or 3 of his fights and he made weight and finished his opponent off in all of them.

4. He is always fighting someone in the top 3 in their province in their weight class.

5. I don't approve of his war of words over Facebook.  That was not thought out that well.

I 100% believe that Showtime was sick at AFC.  Why?

1. He needs the money, so why would he pull out?

2. He would not pull out because he was scared of Heit.  He was the underdog against studs like Jason High, Ryan Ford, Victor Bachmann, Ryan McGilivray, Farmer Barnard, Martin Grandmont before and he never pullled out.  Why would he pull out now unless he was ill?

3. AFC even offered him more to fight, but he still refused saying he was sick.

I'm not talking about the missing weight issue, aside from this particular fight, I've never heard of him missing weight. What I meant was how he handles himself as a professional athlete is BS, he "internet chirps" like a 15yr old street thug, causes problems/drama at events, and has absolutly zero loyalty for promoters (not just Darren) who try to have him on their card. Lets face it he's kinda a loose cannon… really emotionally driven and thats a gamble if you're a promoter looking for professional athletes and a well run show.

Why do you say zero loyalty to promoters?

TFC brought him back three times and so did UCW.

it was the calling Darren Owen a faggot (fagget) and trashing AFC that really sunk it for me. I was actually more disappointed than anything else.

I assume that the people involved in that show worked incredibly hard. And Owen's statement, while a little dry, was completely respectful.

Like most fans (and I am a Showtime fan as well), I enjoy a little sizzle with my steak. But Owen and Co. in no way deserved the garbage that was posted all over the net.

People , as a whole, are pretty forgiving. I am sure if Wedderburn have offered up some sort of valid explanation and perhaps an apology (I know nobody is ever wrong about anything these days), people would be reacting differently.

Hope he gets his life together, but I won't be on my feet cheering next time i see him fight.

I agree HB. Showtime needs to man up and apologize for his Facebook comments.

I definitly woudn't put Wedderburn in the T.J group that's for sure.

I think Wedderburn is a taleted fighter, he's fought top guys and always puts on a show.

I also don't have any problems of the way he markets himself by talking shit. It's not how I would do business in his shoes, but it IS an effective method of marketting himself, and he's usually pretty funny.

I have to critisize when guys miss weight, it's somethign I feel strongly about. After twice in a row, I had to throw in some jabs about whether he'd make for the Heit fight…. and I was right, he had a horrible time cutting and didn't even come close…

I think his comments to D.O. in a public forum were way out of line. Even if there is more to the story than we know, or if Wedderburn was truly sick, which I believe to be the case… There was a much more professional way for it to be handled and figured out.

Called a promoter a faggot, and all this is just a sure fire method of never being invited back to that show again. With AFC's successes after 4 shows, I think it is a bridge that he will regret burning. If he plans to move to 185, AFC has the deepest 185 div going right now.

I am sure Wedderburn will recover from this and we'll see him somewhere else at 185.

His buddy Chris should definitly pay up as well….
