is your lightweight rankings 155?? if so i think Ryan machan should be on the top 5 he just beat Kajan Johnson in the MFC 23 unstopable

  2. L-Boutin says:

Machan had a huge win, I’m sure that’ll push him into the next top 10 rankings.

I’m pretty sure Jordan Mein is done fighting at 155 and has already moved up to 170 for his last few fights.

explain the rankings! ricci hasnt faught he moved up to number 7, southern destroyed grandmont and is now number 10?????????????

  7. Duane, read the two analysis for more info but here is a summary.

Last ranking: Ricci #9 and Southern not top 10 and coming off a 17 second loss.

This ranking: Ricci beat former #10 Mein at 170. Southern beat former #8 Grandmont.

Ricci moves up to 7 from 9 and Southern moves up to 10 from unranked.

Remember Ricci is 6-0 and Southern is 6-2.

Here is the written analysis behind the rankings:

  8. duane says:

you had grandmont at #7 not 8 and when you beat someone that is ranked lower than you, you shouldnt move up.

  10. You can move up when guys above you drop out or lose or even if you get a huge win and someone above just fights a journeyman. It is subjective, but I don’t think Southern has done enough to pass Ricci.

One win over Grandmont is not enough to pass Ricci. Lets not forget that two fights ago Southern lost in 17 seconds.

  11. Mark Boots Holst should be on that list.. He would destroy a lot of the names on there.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 1

  12. Agreed with Harrison about Boots. Him not being on this list doesn’t make much sense.

  13. Rob says:

especially with boots having just finished former ufc fighter Corey Hill in the 2nd round of his most recent fight…not many on that list have that on their record…

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  14. Boots win over Corey Hill is not reflected in these rankings. They were last updated in early March.

haha, it doesn’t mean his fans aren’t going to give you a hard time about it, :)

  16. The Rock says:

Mark”Boots”Holst is a elite MMA fighter who is not on this list… why??……. I believe Mark Holst is recognised at the international level and that being said,it could be the reason why he is not on the radar at the national level. He is now officially a member of the UFC. the best international organization in the sport of MMA. He is absolutely among the best lightweight fighters in the world!!! Perhaps, this explains why Mark Holst is not on the list.

“especially with boots having just finished former ufc fighter Corey Hill in the 2nd round of his most recent fight…not many on that list have that on their record…”

While it’s a good win, with TUF now, UFC fighter isn’t what it used to be. I think the majority if not all of the fighters on the list would also beat Hill. Remember he had 1 fights when he made it on the show. He’s 4-3 in MMA. He’s a decent fighter, but hardly top tier.

Theres guys on this list that have lost fights and not even fighting close to that competition and they made the top ten? I dont get it. this needs serious updating

  39. […] 3. Stephen Beaumont @StephenBeaumont (6-1) vs. Jose Rodriguez (7-2) AFC Contender Series 2 – Edmonton – February 22 AFC launches their Contender Series this month and what two better fighters to main event it than their former Lightweight champion and the most overlooked Lightweight in the country. “Big Bad” Beaumont, a member of the Hayabusa Training Centre, is a tremendous top positional wrestler who sports an impressive 70% finishing percentage. Jose Rodriguez, who fights out of Scheer’s MMA and Team Ringshark, will be returning from a two year layoff and besides a decision loss to Advin Omic at Welterweight in 2010 has gone undefeated since 2008. Considering both men have finished the same amount of fights via TKO as submission (2-2 for Beaumont and 3-3 for Rodriquez), they are both incredibly well-rounded. A win in this bout means a lot to both men as it will set them up as the top 155 lbs contender in the promotion and inch them ever so closer to the nations top 10 rankings. […]

I believe boyle beat shame campbell so maybe this fight with boyle gets him there.
