Canadian MMA Rumor Mill – Thanksgiving 2018 Edition

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. There are no more local cards in Canada in October… Canadian fight fans will have to settle for UFC Fight Night 139 at the end of the month when we’ll see a handful of Canadian fighters compete in Moncton, New Brunswick.

…and now for the rumours!

  • Another Canadian is headed to the UFC 231 card in Toronto as John Makdessi will take on Diego Ferreira in a Lightweight bout.
  • Mandel Nallo finally returns to the Bellator cage almost a year after his successful debut back in December 2017. Nallo will take on Carrington Banks in a Lightweight affair at Bellator 207 on October 12.
  • After holding 5 shows in 2017, Elite 1 only made one appearance in 2018. The promotion will be back at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton on January 26 with an exciting Welterweight Title bout between Christien Savoie and Alderic Keith.
  • The BTC 4 lineup continues to grown with the announcement that Adam Assenza will defend his Lightweight Title against Jason Saggo in his first bout back following his UFC release. Also added is a Featherweight bout between Patrick Connors and Maxime Poulin.

  • Battlefield Fight League 58 is expected to feature a whopping 10 Title fights between the pro and amateur portions of the card.  The first matchup we’re hearing is a Heavyweight Title fight between Dustin Joynson and Caio Machado.
  • Bibiano Fernandes is set to step back into the ONE Championship cage to unify the Bantamweight Titles against interim champion Kevin Belingon. Also on the card Vancouver born Strawweight Title holder Angela Lee looks to add the Flyweight Title to her trophy case when she faces current champion Jingnan Xiong.
  • Ryan Ford has been added to Unified 35 in Calgary at Super-Welterweight (175lbs) and Shane Campbell‘s bout will now be at Super-Lightweight (165lbs) instead of a Lightweight Title defense.
