Note: Efrain Escudero missed weight coming in at 162lbs for his Lightweight bout and will not be eligible to earn any points towards the standings. Escudero will also forfeit 25% of his purse to Jason High.

  2. Cody Rempel says:

Strange ending to the Watley vs. Tavares fight… Watley landed an accidental groin strike near the end of the second round, after the 5 minutes Tavares could not continue and the result was announced as a TKO victory for Watley! It was explained by the broadcast team that because Watley was up on the scorecards he was awarded the win.

How does a doctor stop a fight 1 second into a round?

  4. Cody Rempel says:

I haven’t been watching but I’m assuming they were stopped between rounds and for the purpose of scoring for the tournament they’re being listed as third round stoppages.

  6. LBoutin says:

The Tavares fight will most likely be changed to a NC. No reason Watley should have gotten a TKO win.

In a 3 round fight, 2 rounds must be completed to go to the judges score cards for a technical decision. This foul happened well before that. Otherwise it should be rules as a NC (Unified Rules) You can’t win by TKO accidental foul.

  7. MCGA says:

“ Per Illinois rules, a fighter who is hit with an accidental low blow must continue “after a reasonable amount of time, but no more than 5 minutes” or that fighter might lose by technical knockout”

  8. Cody Rempel says:

Such an odd rule… should definitely be a no contest! I wonder if that was explained to Tavares during the recovery period or prior to the fight!

Also Jason High looks to have gotten screwed, questionable tap on the guillotine…. but then he pushed a ref again, we’ll see what happens this time!

Rama has lost 3 of 4. Has he reached his peak? Is he still training with Vlad?

  11. Cody Rempel says:

As far as I know Rama is living in New York and training with Team Renzo Gracie… not sure if he still does any training with Vlad!
