Some sad news to report as Max Marin passed away over the weekend. Marin was a Canadian MMA pioneer and the owner of Canuckles MMA in Calgary. Marin is survived by his wife and four boys. Top MMA News would like to offer our deepest condolences to all of Max’s family and friends, training partners and students.

And now for the rumours…

  • A scary situation for amateur standout Saeid Mirzaei who got lost on a hike near Vancouver and was missing overnight Sunday. Mirzaei eventually found his way down to the road cold but uninjured and was picked up by a park ranger Monday morning. Mirzaei is scheduled to make his pro debut March 17, no word as of now if that fight will continue as planned.
  • Olivier Aubin-Mercier has stepped in on short notice to replace Mairbek Taisumov against Evan Dunham. “The Quebec Kid” has a chance to vault himself into the Lightweight rankings if he can earn his fourth straight win and take out the #14 ranked Dunham.
  • Bibiano Fernandes will look to defend his ONE Championship Bantamweight title for a record 8th time against Martin Nguyen. Nguyen looks to make some history of his own as he already holds the Lightweight and Featherweight titles and hopes to hold titles in three weight classes simultaneously.
