Havoc FC returns for their first show in over a year with their 12th event tomorrow night from the Sheraton Hotel in Red Deer, Alberta. In the main event Grayson Wells defends his Heavyweight title against undefeated challenger Dustin Joynson and in the co-main event Justin Basra is set to take on Randy Turner for the vacant Bantamweight Title.

Pro/265lbs- Grayson Wells (C) vs. Dustin Joynson
***Heavyweight Title Fight
Round 1: Wells opens up the offence and they tie up in the centre of the cage. Wells lands a huge right and Joynson fires back with a combo before pressing him into the cage. They get off the cage and Wells tries to get free but Joynson puts him back on the cage and lands a knee. They move to the centre and Wells buckles him with a massive right. Wells pounces and lands from side control. Joynson is able to get back to his feet and looks for a guillotine against the cage. Joynson gets the single but Wells still has the guillotine. Joynson pulls his head free and postures up. Joynson lands and Wells gives his back. Joynson lands hammerfists from the back and Wells looking to scramble out. Joynson sinks his hooks but Wells spins and gets to his feet. Joynson looking for the Guillotine and snaps him down. Wells looking for the single but Joynson lands rights until the round comes to an end. Top MMA News scores round 10-9 Joynson

Round 2: Both men land solid shots and Wells with a combo. Joynson connects with a right but misses the follow up. Wells with a huge right an uppercut. Wells continues to land and a cut opens beside Joynson’s left eye. Wells continues to tag him and a Joynson head kick grazes the chin of Wells. Referee Andy Social pauses the action due to an accidental clash of heads and Wells remains down for a moment. On the restart both men swing for the fences and a big combo from Wells. They exchange huge rights and collapse together in the centre of the cage. Joynson on top but Wells is able to stand back to his feet. Joynson drags Wells down against the cage and lands from half guard. Joynson landing as Wells turtles and covers up. Wells looks to scramble out and back to his feet but Joynson keeps him on the mat and takes the back. Joynson has his hooks and Wells gives up full mount. Wells spins again and Joynson takes the back and sinks the rear-naked choke forcing the tap just before the round ends.

Pro/135lbs- Justin Basra vs. Randy Turner
***Bantamweight Title Fight (Vacant)
Round 1: Basra lands a big combo and looks to continue the onslaught on the mat. Turner is able to get back to his feet but Basra drags him back down. Basra takes the back and Turner stands. Basra releases but still has a body lock from the back and kicks his leg out, tripping him to the mat. Turner again back to his feet but a suplex from Basra. Turner once ah]gain works to his feet and they finally separate. Turner lands a kick to the body before going up high. Basra takes him down and Turner back up again. Basra catches a body kick and connects with a right. A head kick from Turner sails over and grazes the top of Basra’s head dropping Basra. Basra wraps him up and drags him down looking for the d’arce choke but Turner escapes to his feet. Turner with a pair of leg kicks and Basra connects with a huge combo and a leg kick followed by another right that sends Turner into the cage. Basra ties him up against the cage and they jockey for position before breaking away from the cage. Both men look to land and Turner with a stiff right and they trade before time expires. Round 2:  A quick exchange and Tuner with a nice combo. Basra drags him to the mat and looks to sink the hooks. Turner to his feet but Basra brings him to his corner and takes him down. Basra sinks both hooks and boxes the ears before sliding his arm under the chin. Turner claws at the hands and is able to free himself from danger. Basra begins to hammerfist before flattening Turner out and landing more punches. Basra back to rear-naked choke with the body triangle this time but Turner defending well. Turner trying to get back to his feet but Basra giving him no space and keeps landing. Turner gets to his feet briefly but right back down and Basra lands. Turner covering up and Basra landing hammerfists. Basra is able to sink the rear-naked choke and flatten Turner out to force the tap.

***Basra captures Bantamweight Title

Pro/195lbs- Trent Rowell vs. Pat Gionette
Round 1: Both men cautious to start an Rowell lands a kick to the body. Rowell with a big combo and they crash the mat. Gionette takes the back and looks for the rear-naked choke. Rowell gets back to his feet and gets the takedown. Rowell takes the back and lands shots but Gionette shakes him off and ends up in half guard before passing to full mount. Rowell spins and gets on top in guard but Gionette looks for an armbar. They scramble and Gionette to all fours while Rowell lands from the back. Both men joking around while Gionette is on top looking to land. Rowell takes the back, lock in a body triangle and a rear-naked choke but Gionette fights the hands and survives. Rowell still working to sink the choke but can’t force the tap and lets go to land shots. Gionette fires back and lands and Rowell looks to trap the arm. Gionette scrambles and ends the round on top. Round 2: Rowell catches a high kick and spins Gionette around. Gionette covers up but eats a combo and Rowell looks for the takedown against the cage. Gionette is able to scramble and end up on top and begins to rain down punches before taking the back and looking for the choke. Gionette slides off the side and looks for a triangle and is able to force the tap.

AdvAm/155lbs- Jett Grande vs. Sean Michaels
***Amateur Lightweight Title Fight (Vacant)
Round 1:  Grande immediately shoots and gets a big double to side control. Grande working for an arm triangle but can’t lock it in so he switches and lands a flurry of punches to the head. Michaels looks to stand but Grande slams him right back down. Grande continues to pound away and prevents Michaels from getting back to his feet. Michaels is able to finally get back up but Grande drags him back down to guard where he continues to pummel him at will. Grande passes to the side and lands more shots before moving to full mount and continuing to rain down blows. Grande looks to sink a rear-naked choke but time runs out. Round 2: Michaels refuses the second round glove touch and both men trade some heavy leather before Grande gets another takedown to half guard. Michaels looks to shrimp out but Grande ends up on the back. Michaels works back to his feet and lands a couple rights before stuffing a takedown. Grande still working for it and gets the double to full guard. Michaels landing some hammerfists from the bottom and Grande sits back in the guard and looks to connect to the body and the head. Michaels throws up an armbar but slips right off and Grande finishes the round in half guard. Top MMA News scores round 10-9 Grande

Round 3: Before the third the doctor comes in to check on Michaels eye and we’re good to go. Grande with a leg kick and gets the takedown to full guard right beside his cornermen. Grande passes to half guard and looks to land but Michaels doing well to tie up the hands. Grande postures but eats some shots from Michaels who looks to stand. Grande is able to keep him on his back and avoids an armbar attempt. Michaels working for a kimura but can’t quite latch it in and the round ends with not much action. Round 4: Leg kick for Grande and another. Michaels with a stiff jab and Grande appears to have slowed down a bit. Michaels with a shot but Grande stuffs it and gets a double of his own to full guard. Grande lands shots and Michaels ties him up. Boutin implores them to work and Grande frees his arms and lands to the body. Grande passes to half guard and lands a left and Michaels working to get his guard back and looks for an armbar but Grande defends and the horn sounds. Top MMA News scores round 10-9 Grande

Round 5: Grande with some chipping leg kick and Michaels answers back with one of his own and a right. Grande gets another takedown and settles right back to guard. Grande works to pass for mount but Michaels retains half guard. Michaels tying up the arms and throwing his legs high but can’t lock anything in. Michaels lands from the bottom and again looks for an armbar. Grande gets free and comes alive to land a combo and ends the fight landing from the top. Top MMA News scores round 10-9 Grande

Am/145lbs- Hassan Shtay vs. Sam Bieri
Round 1: Bieri with a front kick but Shtay catches it and lands a right. Bieri with a leg kick and Shtay fires right back. Bieri presses forward with a combo and Shtay lands a trio of body kicks. Shtay with a nice combo and they circle briefly until Shtay lands a nice right and a body kick. Bieri with a kick to the body and Shtay looks to land another but falls short. Bog combo from Shtay prompts Bieri to look for a tie up but can’t get it. Another barrage from Shtay and time runs down in the round. Top MMA News scores round 10-9 Shtay

Round 2: Shtay is talking to him and Bieri lands a kick to the body. Shtay lands and Bieri answers right back with a combo. They exchange shots against the cage and Bieri gets the better of the exchange. Both men with visible damage to the arms from blocking kicks and two more are blocked by Shtray. Bieri rushes forward with a vicious combo and crumples Shtay against the cage. Boutin is quick to get in between the fighters so Shtay doesn’t suffer any unnecessary damage. Very impressive skills on display from a pair of debuting amateurs.

Am/145lbs- Peter Janssen vs. Patrick Leblanc
Round 1: Janssen with a leg kick to start and Leblanc follows up with one of his own. Janssen lands another and a right. Leblanc rushes forward with a combo but Janssen with the easy takedown to half guard. Janssen passes to full mount but Leblanc ties up his arms. Leblanc looks to sweep but Janssen stays heavy and lands to the body. Lablanc trying to roll Janssen but can’t get the sweep and Janssen continues to work the body. Leblanc scrambles but Janssen ends up on top looking to sink the choke. Janssen can’t sink the choke but is able to lock in a deep armbar and forces the tap.

Am/145lbs- Dean Thiessen vs. Scott Bouchard
Round 1: Thiessen lands a right and Bouchard with a leg kick. Thiessen presses forward and lands and Bouchard with another leg kick. Bouchard closes the distance and gets the body lock but can’t drag him to the mat. Bouchard presses him against the cage before scooping him up and slamming him to the mat in full guard. Bouchard lands to the body as strikes to the head on the ground are not legal in amateur bouts. Referee Luke Boutin stands them up due to a lull in the action. Thiessen with a leg kick and Bouchard lands. At the ten second clapper both men land a couple more shots before time expires. Top MMA News scores round 10-9 Bouchard

Round 2: Bouchard calls for the crowd to make some noise and they oblige. Both men trade shots and Bouchard shoots for a double but Thiessen sprawls and gets back to his feet. Bouchard presses him against the cage and Thiessen knees the legs. Bouchard with a knee to the body and another before Thiessen tries to work off the cage. Bouchard keeps him there and drags him down with a single. Thiessen working for a triangle but Bouchard with his head high frees himself from danger. Theissen tries for a sweep but Bouchard stays on top now to half guard. Bouchard spins to north/south and looks for a kimura. Theissen is able to re-guard and Bouchard ends the round on top. Round 3: They trade inside leg kicks and a front kick from Bouchard. Both men trading shots and another solid exchange before Bouchard closes the distance and gets a hold of him. Thiessen works for a guillotine but can’t lock it in and lands a knee. Bouchard is able to free himself and gets the single to guard. Thiessen briefly looking for an armbar but Thiessen avoids it and passes to side control. Bouchard looking for a kimura but Thiessen is able to pull his arm free and the fight comes to an end.     Don’t think Katona vs Basra ever needs to happen. Everybody posting here seems to already know who would win. Some say Basra and others say Katona but they all agree it would be a one sided fight. So I’d rather see a closer matched fight. More entertaining…

    Here are the combined records of Basra and Katona’s pro and amateur opponents.

    Justin Basra (32-25)
    Brad Katona (36-46-3)

    It should be noted that Katona’s opponent in his second amateur bout holds a Pro record of 0-13 and an amateur record of 2-8-1 so the rest of his opponents are a combined 34-25-2

    Of course none of this means anything as MMA Math rarely works out but I’m bored so there ya go!
