2017 IMMAF World Championships – Team Canada Quick Results


The IMMAF 2017 World Championships went down November 12-19 in Bahrain and Team Canada had a strong showing from the 3 athletes they sent Dylan Lielke, Ali Wasuk and John Nguyen with each man returning to the Great White North with a 2-1 record on the weekend.

  • Ali Wasuk scored a pair of decisions before losing to the eventual Gold medal winner Delyan Georgiev by Decision
  • Dylan Lielke picked up two knockouts before losing to the eventual Featherweight Silver medal winner by TKO
  • John Nguyen submitted his first two opponents before dropping a Decision to eventual Lightweight Gold Medal winner Quitin Thomas.

145lbs- Dylan Lielke (Canada) defeats Eli Zgheid (Lebanon) by KO (Punches) in Round 2 2:00
145lbs- Ali Wasuk (Canada) defeats Haad Matter (Bahrain) by Unanimous Decision
155lbs- John Nguyen (Canada) submits Diego Noboa (Colombia) by Guillotine Choke

Day 2:
145lbs- Ali Wasuk (Canada) defeats Khazar Rustamov (Azerbaijan) by Unanimous Decision
145lbs- Dylan Lieke (Canada) defeats Hoger Salih (Sweden) by TKO (Punches) in Round 2, 1:04
155lbs- John Nguyen (Canada) submits Nkosi Nebele (South Africa) by Rear-Naked Choke in Round 3, 1:31

Day 3:
145lbs- Joel Arolainen (Finland) defeats Dylan Lielke (Canada) by TKO (Punches) in Round 2, 2:58
145lbs- Delyan Georgiev (Bulgaria) defeats Ali Wasuk (Canada) by Unanimous Decision
155lbs- Quitin Thomas (United States) defeats John Nguyen (Canada) by Unanimous Decision
