The wait is finally over as “Mean” Hakeem Dawodu has signed a 4-fight contract with the UFC and is expected to make his debut in the first quarter of 2018. Dawodu is only the second Calgarian to sign with the UFC after Nick Ring and has vowed to bring the Octagon back to the Saddledome.

Up to this point Dawodu has spent his entire 8 fight MMA career competing under the World Series of Fighting banner compiling a record of 7-0-1. Dawodu has finished six of his seven victories and holds notable wins over Steven Siler, Marat Magomedov, Chuka Willis and Mike Mallot among others.

The 26 year old Featherweight is a product of Mike Miles Muay Thai and Champion’s Creed MMA and will be making the trek to Albuquerque to prepare for his debut at Jackson Wink MMA. In addition to his MMA record Dawodu also has extensive experience in muay thai and kickboxing holding a record of 9-0 as a pro and 42-5 as an amateur.

Congrats and well deserved. This kid will do some damage. He is real talented and has the intangibles to be successful at the highest competitive level. Not in his first couple fights but eventually I would love to see him fight Rick Glenn and get a W to end the win streak of the Canadian Killer.

    Unrelated.

But does anyone know what ever happened to Michael Karkula? 6-0 undefeated with some quality wins and no activity in 4 years?

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 4 Thumb down 6

Wasn’t really looking for likes or dislikes, just an answer. I have no idea that’s why I asked. Seemed like a promising prospect? Anyone know?

@topmmafan karkula has been missing for a couple years now and no one knows or has heard a thing. I’m pretty sure he has skipped the country.
