Cirkunov Battles Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 119


This past weekend UFC officials announced a Light-Heavyweight bout between Latvian-Canadian Misha Cirkunov and former title challenger Glover Teixeira. The bout will take place at UFC Fight Night 119 in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 28. The official UFC rankings have Cirkunov at #7 and Teixeira at #4 in the Light-Heavyweight division.

Misha Cirkunov (13-3) enters this bout after suffering a quick KO loss to quick rising contender Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Fight Night 109. Cirkunov began his UFC career with four straight stoppage victories including submissions over Nikita Krylov, Ion Cutelaba and Alex Nicholson following a KO win in his UFC debut against Daniel Jolly. Cirkunov punched his ticket to the UFC with a 9-2 record on the regional circuit including notable wins over Rodney Wallace, Martin Desilets and Shaun Asher. Cirkunov has 11 finishes in his 13 career victories.

Glover Teixeira (26-6) is also coming off a KO loss at the same UFC Fight Night 109 card and has found mixed results over the last three years poting a 4-4 record over that time. Overall Teixiera is 9-4 inside the Octagon and holds notable wins over “Rampage” Jackson, Ryan Bader, Ovince St. Preux and Rashad Evans among others. Teixiera is also a proven finisher with 22 of his 26 victories coming by stoppage.

UFC Fight Night 119 goes down from the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 28, 2017. No other bouts have been announced for this card as of yet and it is unclear where on the card this bout will fall but it is likely to be part of the main card.
