Elite 1: The Uprising – Weigh-in Results

By:

With the lovely weather in Saint John this afternoon I guess Elite 1 wanted to take advantage of the sunshine.  The New Brunswick promotion held weigh ins for there 31st event on the waterfront this afternoon as fighters and fans packed the downtown stage.

The card will take place at the Lord Beaverbrook Rink  featuring six bouts with four on the amateur side and two on the pro side.  The main event features a bout for the vacant Middleweight title as hometown kid Christien Savoie takes on Kristopher Lee.  The only thing is the belt will only be rewarded if Savoie wins after Lee came in 6lbs overweight today at 191lbs.  This is the second time Lee missed weight for the belt after he came in 23lbs overweight for a title bout in Moncton against Alderic Keith last October.  Elite 1 ended up canceling  the show after that when they only had four bouts on the card.  Savoie was very vocal about wanting to fight Lee himself after the news in October so he didn’t want to waste the opportunity to face him again.  Top MMA News did reach out to Lee to let him make a written statement about what happened and here is what he wrote via message

That wasn’t  the only crazy thing to happen as the match between Ryan Mitchell and Ryan Reynolds was called off after Mitchell failed to show up at the weigh in.  When asked about the incident Elite 1 owner Mike Williams said he tried reaching him but no response.

As for all the other fighters everyone was able to make the cut with one extra pound allowed for shorts.  Doors open at 6pm with the fights expected to be started at 7:30. A thanks goes out to Jowl Arseneault for giving us the weigh in numbers.  Here are the official results
