Canadian MMA Rumour Mill – July 19, 2017

By:

Blaaaaaahhhhhh… I love the summer but I hate the lack of Canadian MMA! Despite there being very few shows in July and August at least a couple of our Canadian boys are getting some fights down south and overseas! Best of luck to Spencer Jebb fighting in Russia this weekend!

And now on to the Rumours!

  • Chris Kelades has stepped in on 2 weeks notice to take on Tyler Shinn at Legacy Fighting Alliance 18 in Oklahoma on August 4. This will be Kelades first fight since a four fight UFC stint that saw him go 2-2 inside the Octagon.
  • TKO 40 will be September 8 although the city and venue have yet to be announced. The card is set to feature 4 main events including Alex Morgan vs. Joao Luiz Nogueira as well as Jesse Ronson taking on Kevin Genereux for the chance to face #1 contender Derek Gauthier for the Lightweight Title at TKO 41. Another one of the featured main event fights will be Todd Stoute against Marc-Andre Barriault at Light-Heavyweight.
  • Also on this card will be a Heavyweight clash between Adam Dyczka and Oulmoudene Najebe which was supposed to be the Heavyweight Tournament finals at TKO 39 before Dyczka was pulled due to a concussion suffered in the first round of the tourney. Alex Paul will also take on David Daigneault at Welterweight.
  • Prior to TKO 40 Jesse Ronson has stepped in on short notice to take on Arman Tsarukyan at 72.1 kgs on August 8th in Sochi Russia for League S-70.

  • Well it’s sounding like Jesse Arnett will not be signed to the UFC for their debut in Edmonton as he is currently set to take on Johnny Bedford at Fight Night 4 in Medicine Hat on the same night. Let’s hope the Big Cat has an out clause in his contract just in case the UFC comes to their senses or needs a late notice replacement. Also set for this card will be Eric Wilson vs. George Garcia.
  • Malcolm Gordon defended his WXC Flyweight Title this past weekend with a big KO victory in only 17 seconds against Michael Jordan.
  • Lee Mein evened his professional boxing record at 3-3 with a second round TKO victory over Ken Frank at Teofista Boxing this past weekend.
