UFC Officials recently announced a Welterweight Bout scheduled for UFC Fight Night 104 in Houston, Texas in early 2017. Sheldon Westcott is set to return from a year long layoff to take on Alex Morono.

Sheldon Westcott (9-3-1) was a Middleweight competitor on The Ultimate Fighter Nations where he picked up wins over Dan Kelly and Vik Grujic before losing to Elias Theodorou in the finals. The Complete Fitness and Martial Arts product was out of action for a year before returning to Welterweight and losing a unanimous decision to Pawel Pawlak. It was another 9 months away from the cage before Westcott came back and picked up his first official UFC victory over Edgar Garcia at UFC 195 back in January 2016 with a quick TKO. Westcott is a proven finisher with 4 (T)KO’s and 3 submissions smong his 9 wins. Here’s hoping this bout marks the beginning of a busy 2017 for Westcott.

Standing across the cage will be the well rounded Houston, Texas native Alex Morono (13-3). Morono picked up his second UFC win in as many appearances just last week when he defeated James Moontasri by Unanimous Decison. Morono made his UFC debut with a split decision win over Kyle Noke as a short notice replacement on the same UFC 195 fight card Westcott last competed on. Morono is in the midst of a seven fight win streak that culminated in a Legacy FC Welterweight title win. Like Westcott, Morono holds the majority of his wins by stoppage with 4 (T)KO’s and 5 Submissions out of his 13 victories.

UFC Fight Night 104 goes down live from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on February 4, 2017. The card will be headlined by the return of “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung who takes on Dennis Bermudez. Also on the card will be Felice Herrig vs. Alexa Grasso, Ovince St. Preux vs. Jan Blachowicz and Tecia Torres vs. Bec Rawlings among others.
