UFC Officials announced yesterday that Canadian Middleweight Ryan Janes would make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 97: Penn vs. Lamas in Manila, Philippines. Janes opponent is South Korean Dongi Yang. Janes was originally set to debut at UFC on FOX 21 this past weekend against Adam Hunter who was ultimately pulled from the card due to a potential  USADA anti-doping violation.

Ryan Janes enters the Octagon on a 7 fight winning streak and an 8-1 record overall. Janes has finished seven of his eight victories including six submissions. The Newfoundland native currently resides in Victoria, BC and trains out of Zugec Ultimate Martial Arts. The Korean Top Team product holds UFC wins over Jake Collier and and Rob Kimmons.

UFC Fight Night 97 goes down from the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Manila, Philippines on October 15. In the main event BJ Penn returns from a 2 year hiatus to take on Ricardo Lamas at Featherweight. Tough break for Janes goes from fighting in his own backyard to having to do 2 straight camps and having to having to fight a hometown guy in korea, hopefully he can pull out the win.
