New Brunswick’s Adam Hunter will not be making his UFC debut tonight in Vancouver on the UFC on Fox 21 card due to an anti-doping violation.  That also means that his opponent, fellow Canadian Ryan Janes, will also have his debut postponed.

The UFC issued the following statement on the issue:

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Adam Hunter of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection on August 11, 2016.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.

However, because Hunter was scheduled to compete against Ryan Janes this coming Saturday, August 27 in Vancouver, British Columbia, there is insufficient time for a full review before the scheduled bout and therefore the fight has been removed from the fight card.

Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information or UFC statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

Both Adam Hunter and Ryan Janes officially weighed in Friday morning.

Did Hunter not get the memo about the new random drug testing policy?

This really sucks for Janes. Good he gets his show money, but that’s still hugely disappointing for him. He gets denied the opportunity to fight on the biggest stage in his own backyard.

Guess Hunter better go get a job.

Yup no tainted beef in Ottawa like over seas so curious to hear whst this wasted oppertunity is for… it was a fairly late add on so my guess is just not enough time to get off the gas before testing started once he was under contract

theres a possibility it could be for medical marijuana. He is a cf veteran, and sponsored by MFT- marijuana for trauma.
May have messed something up in his testing.

I dont understand why the test for marijuana anyways, lets be honest its not performance enhancer. And if your doctor perscribes it to you who are they to tell you not to take it. If you have a perscription from a doctor you should be exempt. But if you pop for cocaine in an out of competition like Jones its all good?
