Kennedy and the UFC was seeking a Canadian replacement, the Canadian MMA scene went into a tizzy trying to figure out who it would be. Well the much rumored answer has finally been made official as Alex Ricci will step in and tangle with Jeremy Kennedy on the undercard of UFC Vancouver. Top MMA News confirmed the match up with multiple sources.

Ricci, a native of Woodridge, Ontario, was already preparing for an upcoming match up as he was scheduled to face Koshi Mastumoto at Vale Tudo Japan on September 19th. A member of M1 Muay Thai, Ricci currently sports a pro MMA record of 10-3 and is riding a 2 fight win streak and has won 3 of his last 4. After a successful career in Muay Thai Ricci entered MMA in 2010 and quickly garnered a 5-0 record with 5 straight finishes. After a decision lose to Jesse Ronson he rebounded with back to back over Keven Morin and Luis Felix. Ricci has been one of the most affected by the down turn of MMA in Ontario having no less than 7 fights fall through over the past 3 years, now finally under a much deserved UFC contract it’s time for him to shine.

Kennedy the current BFL Featherweight champion will be jumping up 10 pounds to Lightweight in order to make his UFC. The man known as “JBC” is no stranger to Lightweight as he competed at that weight on his 3 bouts stretch in Thailand where he went 3-0 with 2 TKOs and 1 submission. Kennedy won his BFL title by defeating the then undefeated Mario Pereia and most recently he dominated Drew Brokenshire by decision in a non title affair.

UFC on Fox 21 goes down August 27th from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. The card is headlined by a Welterweight contenders match up between Carlos Condit and Damien Maia.
