This was an AMAZING experience!! I was lucky enough to get to get up to Ft Mac the Tuesday before the fights. Prestige President Chad Rice did an incredible job of promoting the show and getting the public, non fight fans, involved with the show. The local coverage was better than any I’ve seen for a card outside the UFC, including WEC and WSOF in Edmonton.
This was the first event in Fort McMurray since the destruction in May. The Fort McMurrayites needed a night out and that’s what PFC 7 was. The addition of celebrity boxing matches between local celebrities and politicians may seem corny to MMA fans, but they were a HUGE success!! The celebrity fights also brought people to the event that wouldn’t have been there otherwise. The best news is, the majority of first time fight fans said they can’t wait for the next event.
On paper, to MMA fans, this may look like a boring night of MMA. For those who were lucky enough to be in the Casman Centre, it was a night to remember. Every time a fighter from Ft McMurray was introduced the place went nuts, every time a fighter from Ft McMurray won the place went INSANE!!!
We all know how tough it can be for a local MMA event to break even, let alone make money. Chad Rice, on behalf of Prestige FC and sponsors, was able to donate $20,000 to local Ft Mac charities. Chad also donated over $10,000 in tickets to families of first responders and families effected by the fire. Chad prefers to stay out of the spotlight but he definitely deserves to be acknowledged for doing an incredible job with this event!!!

I would also like to mention that all the fighters in the card were great! Everyone showed up for weigh ins, their meds were in on time, and they all came to fight!! Having 12 fights scheduled and not losing at least 1 is rare. Travis Cardinal even stepped up on 2 days notice to fill in.

Sheldon Westcott deserves a big thank you for what he did for the people of Ft Mac!! Talking to the UFC and getting free tickets for the people effected by the fire was an incredible gesture. He made many people happy!

Sandy Bowman and the Wood Buffalo Combative Sports Commission were incredible to work with. There were a lot of eyes on this event making sure things were done right. Things were ran perfectly.
