Quinn Floats Up To Featherweight For Prestige FC 3

By:

Prestige Fight Club THUMBA major matchup has been added to the Prestige FC 3: Ascension presented by Stellar Gear & 104.9 The Wolf lineup with a hometown favorite bolstering the lineup.

Regina’s own Sean Quinn (8-7) is moving up to the featherweight ranks and he will take on veteran Cory Houston (5-4) of Winnipeg in a main-card tilt taking place on Friday, October 7th at the Delta Regina Hotel & Convention Centre.

“It is imperative that we have the best talent from Saskatchewan on the card and certainly Sean Quinn is at the top of list,” said Cord Crowthers, CEO & Matchmaker of Prestige FC (Prestige Fight Club MMA).

“Sean is hugely popular, a top-quality fighter, and an outstanding coach whose students will create an absolutely electric atmosphere as they cheer him on.”

Quinn, who opened Queen City Martial Arts last year, is a slick submission specialist with five of his victories coming via tapout including his first-round win over Sean Day at Prestige FC 2 back in March. The 33-year-old brought a halt to the bout at the 3:11 mark of the first round with a guillotine choke. Another notable win on Quinn’s resume was one of his two career knockouts when he eliminated Kyle Oliveira in only 22 seconds in May 2012.

The matchup at Prestige FC 3 will be Houston’s first fight since June 2014. Like Quinn, Houston has dominated his opposition with submissions with four victories via tapout.

A middleweight bout has also been added to the Prestige FC undercard with Barrett Thompson of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, making his professional debut against Winnipeg’s George Davis (1-0).

Prestige FC 3: Ascension Updated Lineup (pending ACS approval):
Steve Roy vs. Trevor Lefrancois – Heavyweight Title Fight
Brad Katona vs. Corey Gower – Bantamweight Title Eliminator
Sheldon Leblanc vs. Ricky Guillen – Middleweight
Sean Quinn vs. Cory Houston – Featherweight

I like that the October 7 date for this show means that these 12 fighter’s summer will be much less enjoyable than everyone else’s.

This show is very unprofessional. We bought 10 VIP tickets to the last show and when we showed up the promoter didn’t want to honor the tickets. After a lot of bitching we got in to the VIP cageside section, but it was packed and they didn’t have enough seats for everyone. Not to mention we brought high end business clients to the show and they were turned away when looking for their seats that were worth 150 dollars a seat. We will never bring our business to this promotion again.
