Canada’s Ryan Jimmo is dead at 34 following a hit and run.

“An altercation occurred between the drivers of two vehicles at around 2:15 a.m.” at the H2O Lounge in Edmonton, Alberta, according to a CBC News report.

Although unnamed in the CBC report, Top MMA News has confirmed that it was Canadian Light-Heavyweight Ryan Jimmo.

The report alleges that the 34 year old, who was Jimmo, “walked up to the occupants of the other vehicle. When he began to walk away, police say the suspects’ vehicle accelerated and struck him before leaving the scene.”

The suspects remain at large.

Jimmo was 19-5 in his MMA career which began in the MFC in 2007.  Jimmo went on to become the MFC champion and eventually was signed to the UFC.  Canadian fans will not forget his seven second knockout of Anthony Perosh in his UFC debut at UFC 149 in Calgary.

Jimmo last fought in 2015 when he lost a unanimous decision to Francimar Barroso.  The UFC released him following the bout.

Top MMA News gives it condolences to Linda Jimmo, Ryan’s mother and a past commenter on the site, and all of Ryan’s other friends and family.

Just for the record jimmo was not at a bar partying and getting drunk he was driving around and pulled in the parking lot to talk to the people following him and that’s what happened. So that piece of shit victor valimaki should stop telling the Edmonton journal bullshit when he has know clue to what really happened. Jimmo would not want people to think he was at a bar partying so that’s why I’m writing this .

Ryan Jimmo isn’t that partying type and nor does he ever find trouble but is always the guy putting a smile on others faces. Ill miss that guy and never forget him and all the memories we have had. I just don’t understand how people can give input to something they know nothing about.

Hey guys, I have no firsthand knowledge of anything that has happened. I have been asked by several news outlets but I do not know Ryan well and I told them they should contact Luke Harris or someone that knows him better. I definitely would not suggest that he was partying.

  17. Old School Jake says:

I had the pleasure of shooting a documentary on Ryan Jimmo leading up to his title fight against Wilson Gouveia back in 2010 and spent the entire day with him. Myself, Ryan Hunter & Dan Grazer spent roughly 10 hours with him as he went through a “typical day” in his training camp. This included watching him train, going out to eat and driving around while he shared his philosophies on life.

Jimmo was a classy guy and very brilliant. He simply operated on another level intellectually. While most people would be talking up the fight and opponent, Ryan instead shared his philosophies on life, family and how he viewed the world. Would love to share this with people so they could see deeper than just an “UFC or MMA Fighter”. He was really a great guy.

My thoughts, prayers and condolences to his family, friends and training partners. We weren’t close friends but he would always make it a point to come say hi and shake hands when I saw him.

    God Bless
