Global Warriors 3: Two Championship Fights Feature Top Ontario Talent

Hamilton, Ontario – Global Warriors Fighting Championship is proud to announce Night of Champions will feature both the inaugural bantamweight & lightweight championship clashes for the promotion. The GWFC Bantamweight Championship fight will feature Hamilton’s “Gentleman” Josh Hill (14-1, 2-0 GWFC) meeting promotional newcomer Bill Kamery (13-4), while the GWFC Lightweight Championship fight will be a rematch from GWFC 2 as Alex Ricci (9-3, 1-0 GWFC) & Kyle Prepolec (9-4, 0-1 GWFC) renew acquaintances, this time in a 5 round contest.

“Gentleman” Josh Hill is widely considered Canada’s best bantamweight as well as being ranked as one of the best in the world. Hill returns to the Global Warriors cage for the third time in what will be his 16th career fight but this time with a championship on the line. Coming off an April victory over 15 year & 38-fight veteran Bendy Casimir (20-14-2), in which he dominated the action from bell to bell, Hill is riding a very impressive streak in which he also holds wins over WSOF title challenger Josh Rettinghouse (12-4, 0-1 GWFC) & previously undefeated Bekbulat Magomedov (16-1). With friends and family in attendance, in what will be a packed Brantford Civic Centre, Hill looks to cement his status as Canada’s best and capture the GWFC Bantamweight Championship.

Providing the opposition for Josh Hill will be Iowa based veteran Bill Kamery who comes in riding a three fight win streak of his own, all by way of finish (one TKO, two submissions). Like Hill, Kamery has been well travelled in the MMA world, having competed for both Titan FC as well as the RFA and perhaps most notably has never been to a decision in his 17-fight career. Expect fireworks as the rugged American veteran tries to spoil the party and upset Hill on his home soil.

Alex Ricci comes into May 28th on a 4-2 run with his last outing being his victory over Night of Champions opponent Kyle Prepolec. Long heralded as one of the true practitioners of the art of mixed martial arts Ricci combines a poetic striking style with the iron discipline of a champion. In his first meeting with Prepolec at GWFC 2, Ricci controlled the distance and pace of the fight, which led to his unanimous decision victory. This time around however Ricci will face a stiffer test in a 5 round fight with an opponent looking for revenge as he looks to take home the GWFC Lightweight Championship.

After his first meeting with Alex Ricci at GWFC 2, Kyle Prepolec went on to main event TXC 7 in February against the previously undefeated Adrian Hadribeaj (5-1) where he won his first professional MMA championship by way of a stunning 4th round spinning back fist KO. On May 28th at Night of Champions Prepolec gets a much wanted and well-earned chance to avenge his last loss and stake his claim to championship gold on his home side of the border and it’s a chance the lion hearted Windsor lightweight certainly will not take lightly.

Looking forward to this event I just don’t really see the meaning behind a Ricci/Prepolec rematch? Unless it;s just deemed “a fight” it is kind of counter productive to what these guys are looking for (again, besides just a fight).

I think Ricci vs. Prepolec has something on the line for both guys. Prepolec wants to prove he can beat Ricci and that he belongs in that category.

Ricci wants to prove his dominance & win the title.

Plus it is a really good fight. :)

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 3 Thumb down 10

I have to agree with topmmafan on this one. If UFC didn’t come calling after the first victory over Prepolec, the probably won’t if he beats him again.
Ricci needs a bug win soon over a name opponent if he is going to get a shot at the big show.

Just wanted to thank “Gentleman” Josh Hill for offering to come to the High School I work at today to teach some students about discipline, self-defense, training and submission techniques and what a proper MMA Workout looks like. He has always been someone who works in the community to give back as he was mentored by some of the coaches we had in the past that had a huge influence on our future. Thanks again to a great guy and competitor. Good luck on the 28th of May buddy!
