The news came out of nowhere but Canada’s number 4 Heavyweight Tanner Boser will be traveling to Russia to participate in the Akhmat MMA Grand Prix in

the Heavyweight division. “The Bulldozer” will be facing Kazbek Saidaliev in the opening round on April 9th.  The news of the Akhmat MMA Grand Prix was first reported by Karim Zidan of Bloody Elbow.

Boser, a member of the Hayabusa Training Centre, most recently avenged his March 2015 KO loss at the hands of Tim Hague by toppling the UFC veteran with elbows earning a KO victory of his own. Prior to that he rebounded from the Hague loss with TKO wins over Jared Henderson and Victor Valimaki. Now riding a 3 fight win streak the young prospect will look to roll that momentum into Russia and take home his first international win.

Saidaliev made his MMA debut in 2009 earning himself a KO win and disappeared for 2 years. He returned in 2011 to compete in the ProFC Grand Prix where he won his two opening bouts and advanced into the semi finals. 3 months later he won his semi final match by decision but was KO’d in the finals at the hands of Alexei Kudin. Again Saidaliev disappeared for 3 years returning in 2014 where he stopped Joirzon Piroz by TKO at Absolute Championship Berkut. His opening bracket match up with Boser will be his first fight in 2 years.

The rest of the Heavyweight bracket features Thiago Silva vs. Dion Staring, Volkan Oezdemir vs. Alikhan Vakhaev and Geronimo dos Santos vs. Stav Economou.
