Dixon Set to Take on Janssen at Triumph FC 1


Triumph Fighting ChampionshipTriumph Fighting Championships announced a solid Lightweight battle for their debut show in April. Wrestling standout Clay “Demon Knight” Dixon will meet viral sensation Wolfgang “Airwolf” Janssen. Triumph FC President Victor Valimaki confirmed the bout with Top MMA News today.

Clay Dixon will put his undefeated pro record on the line in undoubtedly his toughest test to date. Dixon will be moving back up to Lightweight for this bout and is looking for his fifth straight victory to open his pro career. Dixon lost his only amateur outing to the undefeated Justin Basra. Dixon has key wins over Brent Harvie and George Matechuck. The UFC Gym Sherwood Park fighter has an impressive wrestling pedigree which has seen him pick up 1 gold, 2 silvers and 4 bronze medals at the Canadian Nationals.

Wolfgang Janssen looks to get back on the winning track after dropping his most recent bout to a surging Craig Shintani. Janssen experienced mixed results in his amateur career going 2-2 before turning pro and putting together a solid 5-2 record. Janssen went viral with his flying reverse triangle submission over tough veteran Aaron Armstrong back at the inaugural Havoc FC event in 2012. You can check out the submission HERE. Janssen also holds notable wins over the likes of Jesse Arnett and Curtis Demarce. The Arashi-Do Red Deer product looks to add another solid win to his resume and begin the climb back up the ladder.

Triumph FC 1: Inception goes down from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta on April 22 and features a main event Lightweight Title Fight between Andrew McInnes and Tom Gallicchio. Also on the card Sabah Fadai meets Tito Jones in a Featherweight bout and Mark Drummond takes on Nicolae Cury at Welterweight. Some other names expected to appear on the card are Yoni Sherbatov, Parwez Ghulam and Austin Ryan. The full lineup is expected to be announced in the coming days.
