Saturday Night Fights Returns With Regina’s First Pro MMA Event

Saturday Night FightsProfessional MMA action is coming to Regina.

On Nov. 14, Regina’s Centre Ring Promotions is set to host Saturday Night Fights 10 at the Conexus Arts Centre in the Queen City.

The event is to feature at least 10 bouts, with majority Saskatchewan fighters, including Reginans Sam King, Adam Wayne, Paul Grebinski and Brad Collins, as well as fighters from across Western Canada.

CRP founder AJ Scales, who’s successfully promoted more than half-a-dozen successful MMA events in Regina, is excited to introduce professional MMA to the Queen City.

“It’s been a pleasure to showcase Regina’s best amateur fighters under the Saturday Night Fights banner, and the shows have been really well-received over the years,” says Scales, the owner of Regina’s Complete Martial Arts, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and undefeated fighter.

“But professional MMA is a whole new beast, in terms of the talent level of the fighters and the rule set, which allows more exciting attacks and opens the door to a whole lot more action.”

Scales anticipates another electric night of fights — and he’s also looking forward to nurturing the next generation of Saskatchewan MMA fighters.

“Unfortunately there haven’t been a lot of opportunities for local fighters to test their skills and move up the ranks in the past, but I couldn’t be more excited to help hungry local up-and-comers progress in their careers and continue to put Saskatchewan on the MMA map,” Scales says.

“When you come to a Saturday Night Fights show, you’re not just going to get a great night of fights, which is a really unique opportunity in this province. But you’re also doing your part in helping nurture the sport and its fighters in this province.”

  1. I hope to see some of these promotions bringing out some Ontario talent as well! With Ontario having no long running promotions, Id love to see some of that talent get out to the west coast!
