Ryan Machan will face Mike Rhodes in the Prestige Fight Club main event in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on October 24, according to Top MMA News’ sources.

Red Deer’s Ryan Machan is one of the top Welterweights in Canada having gone 23-9 over a nine year MMA career.  Incredibly, the Arashi-Do fighter has finished every single one of his 23 victories and will be entering this bout on a five fight winning streak.

Machan will attempt to win his sixth consecutive fight against former UFC fighter Mike Rhodes.  Rhodes (7-4) went 6-1 in his career and won the RFA Welterweight title before signing with the UFC.  In the Octagon, Rhodes lost two decisions and was submitted by Erick Silva.  However, the Duke Roufus student will be entering the PFC cage with a win under his belt having knocked out Tom Angeloff in less than two minutes in April.

Also rumoured on the card are three top ranked Canadian athletes, whose opponents are unknown at this time.

  • Saskatchewan’s Kurt Southern (13-6), who was once a top ranked Canadian Lightweight, will make his Featherweight debut on the card.  Southern, who has beaten the likes of Mukai Maromo and Brad Cardinal, will be having his first fight in his home province since 2007.
  • Charmaine Tweet (6-5), another Saskatchewan fighter, will have her homecoming in the PFC cage.  Tweet has faced the best in women’s MMA including Ronda Rousey and Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Justino.  After winning two consecutive fights, Tweet came up short in her challenge of Cyborg for her Invicta title earlier this year.
  • Long time standout Ontario fighter, Alex Ricci (9-3) will head west to fight on the Prestige FC card.  The dynamic striker most recently won a unanimous decision over Kyle Prepolec in May.

The card has been rumored for the 1,700-seat Crescent Point Place in Weyburn Saskatchewan on October 24. Robin Black and John Ramdeen of The Fight Network have already been announced as the commentary team.

Prestige FC’s Cord Crowthers and Scott Zerr were unavailable for comment for the article.
