A Light Heavyweight bout between Edmonton’s Victor “The Finnisher” Valimaki and Brazil’s Thiago “Jambo” Goncalves has been confirmed by WSOF officials for World Series of Fighting 21 in Edmonton, Alberta on June 5.

Victor Valimaki will enter the bout looking to erase the memory of his TKO loss to Jeremy Osheim in his most recent bout at MFC 41. That loss snapped a two fight win streak over the likes of Bill Widler and Tim Chemelli both of whom he finished inside the distance. Prior to his most recent stretch Valimaki was finished in three straight bouts by first round TKO by Karl Knothe and Martin Desilets twice under the Fight Club banner. Valimaki has put together a respectable record of 18-9 over his 14 year MMA career including a pair of fights in the UFC in 06/07.

Thiago Goncalves has put together a 17-4 record over his career and recently had a 5 fight win streak stopped when he dropped a Unanimous Decision to Akihiro Murayama in Pancrase last March. The Pitbull Brothers MMA fighter who appeared on Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2 as an injury replacement also fought in Edmonton when he dropped a Split Decision to Ontario’s Cory MacDonald at HeatXC 3 in 2009. Early in his career Goncalves fought Nick Thompson and Luigi Fioravanti. Goncalves lost both bouts but has since gone 15-2.

World Series of Fighting 21 goes down from the Edmonton Expo Centre on June 5 and features a pair of World Title fights. Smealinho Rama defends his Heavyweight Title for the first time against newly signed World Sambo Champion Blagoi Ivanov and Chris Horodecki challenges Lance Palmer for the Featherweight Title.
