Garcia Looks to Give Swick Nightmares at UFC 189


A Welterweight bout is set for UFC 189 on July 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dominican born Canadian, Alex “The Dominican Nightmare” Garcia will welcome Mike “Quick” Swick back from a 31 month layoff. UFC officials announced the bout today.

Garcia most recently had a six fight win streak snapped when he dropped a unanimous decision to the surging Neil Magny. Prior to that “The Dominican Nightmare” was 2-0 in the UFC Octagon with a decision win over Sean Spencer and viciously quick :43 KO of Ben Wall.

This will be Swick’s first appearance in the UFC’s cage in over two and half years he last outing was in December 2012 a second round KO loss to Matt Brown on UFC on Fox 5. Since appearing on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter “Quick” has fought inside the Octagon 14 times going 10-4. No stranger to defeating Canadian talent Swick is 2-0 against canucks with wins over David Loiseau and Jonathan Goulet.

UFC 189 takes place on July 11 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The mega card features the long awaited Featherweight title bout between champion Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. Rory MacDonald will also challenge Welterweight champ Robbie Lawler in the co main event.
