After Thiago Alves and Brandon Thatch were both forced to pull out of UFC Fight Night 49, Jordan Mein now meets Mike Pyle who had his original opponent Demian Maia pull out due to injury. The Welterweight contest will be part of the main card and will air live on Sportsnet 360 in Canada and FOX Sports 1 in the US.

Mein has put together a respectable record since being signed to Strikeforce and ultimately transitioning to the UFC with a 4-2 record. Mein’s only defeats in that time came at the hands of Tyron Woodley and Matt Brown, both of whom are currently ranked in the top 5 in the UFC Welterweight division. Mein has produced some impressive finishes under the Zuffa umbrella including TKO’s over Evangelista Santos and Dan Miller as well as decision victories over Tyler Stinson and Hermani Perpetuo. Mein will look to use Pyle, who is currently ranked 13th to launch himself into the rankings picture.

Mike Pyle is a true veteran of the sport and the UFC. Pyle made his pro debut in 1999 and has compiled a 26-9-1 record including going 9-4 inside the Octagon. Pyle has faced a who’s who of MMA competitors including Rampage Jackson, Jon Fitch, Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald just to name a few. Pyle has had similar results as Mein in his recent history as both men rebounded from losses to Matt Brown and won their most recent bouts.
