On September 6th Invicta FC will put on their 8th event and with their change of broadcast partners, Invicta can now be seen on UFC fight pass, they are introducing a new division the women’s Lightweight division and to kick off this new weight class will be Regina’s own Charmaine Tweet taking on Veronica Rothenhausler.

Tweet, a pupil of Jeff Wiley BJJ, most recently submitted Anna Barone midway through the first round at MMA Fight Night 2 this past May. Prior to that “Not So Sweet” had her 3 fight win streak snapped when she made her Invicta debut at 145 lbs. dropping a unanimous decision to Julia Budd. Team Tweet has been bringing female training partners in from all over North American to help Charmaine train in anticipation for this bout. Oddly enough Tweet seems to be more known for her striking due to height and long range but Tweet has earned all 5 of her professional wins by way of submission all in the first round.

Rothenhausler, a Team Alpha Male product, has only fought once as a professional dispatching Katalina Malungahu via KO in just 72 seconds at Invicta 4 in January 2013. “The Heartbreaker” had 3 amateur fights all of which she won by way of KO/TKO with a combined in cage time of 2 minutes and 10 seconds. Having been away from MMA for more then a year and a half, Veronica will need to shake off that extra ring rust before she steps foot in the Invicta cage with Tweet.

Invicta FC 8 goes down September 6th from Kansas City, Missouri. The main event will feature Atomweight (105 lbs.) champion Michelle Waterson defending her title against Yasuko Tamada while Katja KanKaanpa and Stephanie Eggnik will battle for the vacant Strawweight strap.
