Rama Set to Take on Lopez at Battle for the Border 3
Smealinho “Prince” Rama (7-1) has agreed to face former KOTC World Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champion Tony “Kryptonite” Lopez (33-14) in a Heavyweight contest at Battle for the Border 3 in Cranbrook, BC on April 12.
Rama enters the bout on the strength of a Unanimous Decision victory over highly touted Olympic Wrestler and top ranked prospect Steve Mocco at WSOF Canada: Ford vs. Powell. “Prince” Rama rebounded from his first loss against Anthony Hamilton following an undefeated 6-0 start to his career and has cemented himself as the undisputed #1 Heavyweight in Canada. Already touted as a top ten prospect by some, Rama will look to move one step closer to earning a UFC contract with a victory over Lopez.
Tony Lopez enters the bout having lost 5 of his last 6 contests to the likes of Trevor Prangley, Alexey Oleinik and Nick Rossborough. Lopez however is very tough and durable foe and has only been finished four times in his fourteen losses with most of his opponents needing the full 3-5 rounds to get the win. Lopez’s most recent win came with a bit of controversy when he submitted Andenilson Clementino by rear naked choke. Lopez held the choke well after the referee attempted to pull him off and delivered a hammer fist to the face as he stood up.
