Quebec MMA Takes Hit as Challenge MMA Ceases Operations

Challenge-MMA-CMMA-logoChallenge MMA has cancelled its November 9th event and will not be promoting any future events, according to owner Gary Chartrand.

Citing health reasons, Chartrand informed Top MMA News of the cancellation. Unfortunately, the 63 year old has some health issues that have affected him over the past four years and his doctor has informed him that he requires minor surgery in order to prevent a major issue from occurring down the road.

Challenge MMA helped fill the void in Montreal’s fight scene left by the departure of Ringside MMA and Instinct MMA. The promotion put on two events that gave many Quebec fighters a venue to get professional fights.

The first Challenge MMA card was held on May 11th this year and featured Steve Bossé getting his tenth pro win. The second Challenge event was held over the summer and featured David Loiseau in the main event. The Challenge MMA 3 card was scheduled to have fighters such as Aiemann Zahabi, Ryan Hall, and James Mancini appear.

Top MMA News would like to wish Gary Chartrand a speed recovery from his surgery and thank him for his efforts promoting Canadian MMA.
