  6. Robin Black says:

    A “wrestlef#ck” win is a win.

This is not WWE, its a competition.

You need to win, not do frog splashes.

This whole “be ‘exciting'” concept was created by Dana White, a genius promoter, to make competitors fight stupid so that an uneducated audience can understand it.

Can you imagine Green Bay Packers fans complaining that their team won 3-0 and played a stifling defensive game and a 3 yard run game to get a “boring” win?

Can you imagine soccer fans complaining after their team’s 1-0 win where they stifled the other team’s offense?

God this whole “exciting vs ‘boring”” thing is f^cking nonsense.

Is a sport, a competition. Winning and not taking brain damage is the goal.

    Huge congratulations Josh!

  8. Rino Belcastro says:

Keep winning fights Josh – the show is created as a “win and in” and that’s all that matters for now. Don’t change it till its broken and this most likely will be during a fight. We keep questioning your game without an answer. At 10-0 I’m sure you have continued to evolve! Rino

  9. CM says:

I don’t think there is any doubt Louis gets into the house. The suspension is a huge give away, but there are other things as well:

They show both coaches & Dana saying it would have been good to see Louis in the house. That could easily have been edited out, instead it’s just a little foreshadowing.

There’s an article on Sherdog, where Tate mentions how surprised she is about how Louis was portrayed to be very arrogant in the season opener since she found him to be a really nice guy. When would she have had a chance to get to know him if that was all the time he spent on the show?

Louis has a TUF viewing party set-up at a local bar… would you really do that if your time on the show was limited to about 5 minutes on the 1st show & then you were done?

    Well-loved! Thumb up 19 Thumb down 3

  10. These guys have to fight something like 3 times in 6 weeks. More if they have wildcards. Win with as little damage taken as possible should be the strategy. Josh does that well.

Way to go josh,,you got in! Hopefully Louis may get back on the wild card ?? As robin says ! A win is a win , and it is reality tv, some leave it to Dana to create some drama…I still pick josh to win it all …..good luck josh

  15. Under hooks says:

Louis is sarcastic all hell. Plus he understands that TUF will push you into the spotlight if you’re entertaining. Don’t take 2 mins of edited content out of context. TUF can edit anything to make people hate you or love you. His team mate Rolly got very little airplay because once he got in the house he shut up and kept to himself. I bet Louis had a heads up on how to stick around because of his antics on film.

  18. therealslowmo says:

You sound like a total tool so right off the bat we know your opinion is worthless. Louis Fisette was WAY more entertaining in the 5 minutes he was fighting than the majority of the other fights. Not to mention he was dropping bombs and the kid was in ground and pound trouble… and Fisette was at risk of being finished the whole time… when ? That two minutes of awesome triangle choke? Didn’t look to me like Fisette has a problem with his jits, if you knew anything about MMA you’d know ppl get caught from time to time. And to get submitted by the guy with the best bjj in the house ? It happens. MMA is about learning and growing… but I’m sure you “know that”.

Secondly I don’t recall his saying he never trains. I think what he actually said was he is naturally gifted and wins fights.. which a 6-1 record would suggest. When’s he last time you had a 6 fight win streak ? Likely never.

Either way Fisette is my favorite fighter! Hometown kid.. I REALLY hope they bring him back. The kid’s hilarious, super talented and SO much potential.

    Well-loved! Thumb up 13 Thumb down 6

  20. Josh Machan says:

    @ robin

This is also a business. We are in the business of entertaining people. The NHL changed their rules rules to make the game more entertaining. Fans hated neutral zone traps. I as a fight fan want to see action. If I wanted to watch a battle for positions I would watch judo or wrestling. I never watched the fights so I can’t speculate on Josh’s performance. What I can say is there is no reason guys can’t advance their position and go for the tko.

My outlook on fighting is the longer you’re in the ring the better the chance of getting caught or a bad decision. I’m not saying I’ll always Finnish fights, but I will never settle for a safe decision either.

    Well-loved! Thumb up 23 Thumb down 7

  21. Josh Machan says:

Keith, you have a great point about 3 fights in 6 Weeks and I think Josh will win the show. The problem with a safe style is when the cuts happen, it’s the noon marketable fighters leaving.

    Well-loved! Thumb up 14 Thumb down 3

  22. We have a great first blog from Josh coming out where he explains his mindset. Make sure to check it out. It explains a lot.

Thumb up 4 Thumb down 0

  23. Terry Norris says:

@Robin, I agree with Machan, since mma is not a main stream sport like basketball, football, hockey, baseball and apple pie the main focus of the sport and if we expect it too have any sense of longevity like the fore mentioned sports has to be based on solid entertainment. for instance why do you think judo is in jepardy of being tossed out of the olympics, the main reason is low attendence which equalls low sponsership and advertieing dollars. Also to realy make it big in this sport there is really only one road and that road leads to mr. dana whites ufc,and if the big man at the top demands you be entertaining than you better damn well be entertaining or else ,hellow john fitch!!!

  24. Robin Black says:

    Great points guys.

  26. Terry Norris says:

@Robin, one thing you gotta realize robin ,the vast majority of fans do not fall into your category , your a highly educated mma fan and practitioner who has devoted time, blood sweat and tears into appreciating and learning the finer less subtle aspects of the mma game such as defense, position mastery, control etc. if you correlate it to boxing, every fan wants to watch a Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward war as opposed to a klitchko or Bernard Hopkins snooze fest.

  34. Marv says:

Thank you josh machan. When I made the statement about josh hill I was referring to how he seems content to sit in a guys guard all day when he has the skill and strength to pass and work towards a finish. You bleeding heart point counters have to remember that this is a spectator sport. Robin, I have nothing but respect for you and what you do but u gotta remember man the UFC would be pointless without fans and the fighters would prob be getting paid as much as they make at a kotc show. If all the fights were like that nobody would buy ticket and nobody would spend $60 on a PPV.

also Louis Fisette, Ill admit I’m not a huge fan of yours but you looked great in your fight. You fought a triangle for a long time and had the kid in trouble. There’s no shame in getting submitted by a bjj black belt. From all the speculation it sounds like you’re gonna be in. Good luck.

Lol at bleeding heart point counters. That’s awesome. :)

Don’t get me wrong. I really enjoy reckless action and offense first fighting. I love knock outs and I love crazy finishes. Love it.

I just also love tactics and control and strategy and defense and stuff.

I do recognize that I’m not in the majority.

I’m open to discussion and debate and stuff and hearing other perspectives.

    They’re masterful.

  38. Marv says:

Fair enough robin. That’s the great thing about this forum. It’s all opinions. If everyone on this site agreed on every thing it would be pretty fuckin boring. I’m glad you realize that opinions are just that though. Some people take these posts so personally (btp) haha. There’s no denying that josh hill is a good fighter but I don’t like his fights and you do. I have no problem with that and im sure you don’t either. With all that being said I think training on tuf might take him out of his comfort zone and we could see a different josh hill

Thumb up 2 Thumb down 2

  39. GNP says:

After reading Josh Hill,s blog its a wonder the guy could fight at all, talk about stress!!! …Well they all cant be pretty, but a win is a win, …and Marv I normally don’t agree with anything you have to say…this time you make a good point !!!maybe the TUF house will bring out skills hes not using….and your right he does need to come out of his comfort zone…But the other side of the coin is he is 9 and 0 has controlled every fight he has been in and sustained minimal damage….so if its not broke why fix it!!!!!He is still my pick to win the whole thing…so I guess we will see what happens
