Can the Menace Stop Wonderboy? Find Out UFC 165 in Toronto!

Chris Clements THUMBOntario’s Chris Clements will return to action at UFC 165 in Toronto, Ontario on September 21. His opponent will be Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, according to Sportsnet’s Joe Ferraro broke the news via twitter today.

It will be over a year since fans have seen Chris ‘The Menace’ Clements in the UFC Octagon. Following his fight with Matt Riddle at UFC 149, Clements underwent surgery. Now recovered, the Ontario fighter is ready to fight. Clements is unbeaten in the UFC with a win and a no contest in two fights. In his fight with Riddle, Clements lost the bout only to have the result changed to a no contest following a failed drug test by Riddle. UFC 165 will be the first time Clements, who trains out of the Adrenaline Training Center in London, has fought for the UFC in his home province.

Stephen Thompson (7-1) was a phenomenal kickboxer prior to fighting MMA. Thompson has fought three times for the UFC and has a 2-1 record with the promotion. Following his head kick win in his UFC debut, Thompson faltered in a loss to Matt Brown. In his last fight, Thompson rebounded with a decision win over Nah-Shon Burrell.

Clements and Thompson will be on the card which features a Light-Heavyweight title fight between Alexander Gustafsson and Jon Jones.

    Really fun fight. Wonderboy fought for me a few times in kickboxing before he started MMA and he was probably the most impressive striker I’ve seen in person.

    But, Clements all around game is very underrated and his standup matches up well with anyone, so this should be a great fight.

    I’ve not so silently been hoping for this fight since Clements made it to the UFC.

    Clements win by ground and pound. Thompson a stand up kick-boxer his ground game better be tight or it is nighty night.
