It’s official, TJ Grant will be the next challenger for Benson Henderson‘s UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 164!

Grant and Henderson will main event UFC 164 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Bradley Center on August 31st, which will be broadcast live on pay per view.

The 29 year old Benson Henderson (19-2, 7-0 UFC) is a Tae Kwon Do and BJJ Black Belt as well as a former NAIA All American and won the UFC Lightweight Title at UFC 144 over Frankie Edgar. The MMA Lab rep hasn’t looked back since, defending the title a UFC Lightweight record tying three times (tied with BJ Penn).  Henderson’s previous 3 title defense victories were over Frankie Edgar in their rematch, as well as Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez.

Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia’s TJ Grant (21-5, 8-3 UFC), also 29 years old, earned his title shot with a spectacular KO of the Night first round finish over perennial UFC title contender Gray Maynard at UFC 160 in a #1 contenders match up. The Fit Plus fighter is an undefeated 5-0 in the UFC  since moving down a weight class, from Welterweight to Lightweight.  Working up his way towards the UFC 164 title shot, the BJJ Brown Belt has defeated the aforementioned Maynard as well as Matt Wiman, Evan Dunham, Carlo Prater, and Shane Roller.
