Jesse Gross to Face Gavin Tucker for ECC Belt in September

Jesse Gross and Gavin Tucker will vie for the vacant Extreme Cage Combat Featherweight title. Confirmed via tweet by the promotion, the two will meet at ECC 18 in Halifax, Nova Scotia on September 28.

Hometown fighter Gavin Tucker is certainly worthy of this title shot. Amassing a perfect 7-0 record, Tucker is 5-0 in ECC action including his latest Rear Naked Choke victory over Lyndon Whitlock at ECC 15 this February. The Titans MMA fighter has only gone to a decision once in seven fights and that was in his professional debut, so expect Tucker to look for every opportunity to finish Gross.

Jesse Gross (8-3) defeated Tristan Johnson at ECC 17 in dominant fashion. Constantly putting Johnson on his back, Gross was awarded the decision victory and this title shot. While Gross does not have a flashy unbeaten record like his opponent, Gross has faced much tougher competition over his career. In his victories, Gross has finished all but Johnson in the cage.

  4. Exactly @HarpoonHank…Gavin Tucker could be the next Jose Aldo for all we know. He could be the next big thing in Canadian MMA.

It disturbs me that I have only seen one of his fights so far and I had to buy the ECFP DVD to watch it!

Might be time to fly out to Halifax and check this one out.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 6 Thumb down 2
