Roy Nelson and Stipe Miocic Added to UFC 161 Card
With the removal of the main event of UFC 161 due to Renan Barao’s injury, the UFC has announced changes to the June 15th Winnipeg, Manitoba card.
First, the UFC announced that Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson will fill the main event spot.
Tonight, UFC Canada tweeted the following:
Winnipeg gets a Big dose of Country as @roynelsonmma has been added to #UFC161, will face Stipe Miocic on main card.
Nelson (19-7) is on a three fight win streak and is coming off a knockout win over Cheick Kongo at UFC 159. With a win over Miocic, “Big Country” would be in line for a Heavyweight title shot.
Miocic is coming into the fight on the heels of a loss to Stefan Struve (9-1), which was the first loss of his MMA career. Before losing to Struve, Miocic was 3-0 in the UFC with wins over Philip De Fries, Joey Beltran, and Shane del Rosario.
