Antonio Carvalho Cut By UFC
The Ontario fighter confirmed the unfortunate news today via twitter:
“I have been cut by the UFC. Too many FW’s on roster & need to cut back. Business is that way. Only love for the UFC. Hopefully be back. Thx!”
Carvalho was 2-2 in the UFC with his most recent fight being a TKO loss to Darren Elkins in a fight that many believe was stopped prematurely by referee Yves Lavigne at UFC 158. Carvalho was on a two fight win streak prior to that loss.
Undoubtedly, Carvalho’s UFC highlight came in his video game-like KO of Daniel Pineda at UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta. Although he did not win Knockout of the Night due to Ryan Jimmo’s quick KO, he did provide much needed excitement to a rather lacklustre event.
The always classy Carvalho hopes to back in the UFC in the near future. Top MMA News wishes him all the best in his next fights in hopes he makes a speedy return to the big show where he belongs.
