Dwayne Lewis Moves to Aggression to Face Victor Valimaki
Top MMA News has learned that Dwayne Lewis and Victor Valimaki will fight on July 5th for Aggression Fighting Championship in Edmonton, Alberta. The two were originally scheduled to fight on Prestige Fighting Championship’s May 31st card in Fort McMurray, Alberta but that card has been postponed to the fall.
Dwayne Lewis (12-8) will be coming out of retirement to face Valimaki. Lewis cited a persistent back injury which hampered training as the reason for hanging up his gloves following his January 2012 loss to Wilson Gouveia. ‘D-Bomb’ was a mainstay at Maximum Fighting Championship where he fought 15 times (including Heat XC) in his career. Now Lewis will move from the ring to the cage in his comeback attempt against Valimaki in the AFC.
Like Lewis, Victor Valimaki (17-8) has not fought since early 2012. After losing three in a row, ‘The Matrix’ stopped Tim Chemelli at Aggression MMA 9. Valimaki was pulled from a fight against Razak Al-Hassan due to weight cutting issues and was expected to move to Heavyweight in future fights. However, Valimaki has a renewed focus on his diet and training which will keep him in the Light-Heavyweight division. In fact, Valimaki will make the trek to Tristar MMA in preparation for this bout.
The Lewis versus Valimaki bout joins an expected Welterweight title fight between Ryan Ford and the winner of Joel Powell versus Mike Hill at AFC 18.
Prestige FC promoter Sandy Bowman confirmed that he was cancelling plans for his May event in Fort McMurray and is looking to put on an event in September.
