Josh Machan and John Fraser are set to face off in Red Deer on June 7th on Havoc Fighting Championship’s second card.  Fighting in the main event, this Featherweight clash will have big implications on Canada’s Featherweight rankings.

The brother of Hav0c co-promoter Ryan Machan, Josh Machan (9-4) is the current King of the Cage Featherweight champion and is Canada’s eighth ranked 145 lb fighter.  Machan is on an incredible run – winning nine of his last ten fights with his only loss being handed to him by UFC fighter Mitch Clarke at Lightweight.  Machan has a submission heavy game with eight of his nine wins coming by tap out.

Machan told Top MMA News that he was looking forward to the challenge Fraser presents,

“I am very glad the guys at Havoc could get John for me.  At this point in my career, I need exciting fights.  John is exactly that! We have almost identical records.  John has 11 wins -10 by sub one TKO.  I have 8 wins by sub and 1 by TKO. I think John is a great opponent and I always look forward to competing against classy opponents.”

Like his opponent, John Fraser (11-4) also has a few regional MMA titles to his name as he won the W1 Featherweight title and the Wreck MMA Bantamweight title.   Fraser will be coming into the bout with a win over former UFC fighter Tyler Toner in his last bout and, like Machan, is on a tear – winning eight of his last nine fights.

Fraser explains why he took this bout,

“With no MMA happening in Ontario and seeing that Josh Machan needed an opponent, I jumped on the opportunity to fight another top ten Canadian fighter.”

With such an incredibly close matchup on paper, fans will need to flip a coin to predict who will win the Havoc main event.  Havoc co-promoter Jesse Fox talks about why they are bringing in Fraser to face Red Deer’s Machan.

“This was the fight that made the most sense for Josh. We had a few opponents to choose from, but he wants to make a run this year. He has to fight the best in Canada….John said he would love the opportunity to fight Josh, so really the fight fell into place by itself.

I’m expecting fire works. They are both excellent on the ground and both gamers so there’s no quit in either!!  This fight will either end in TKO or sub!! I can’t see it going thee rounds!!”

The Fraser/Machan fight will be joined by fighters such as Trevor Wright and Alexander Halkias on the card.

Tickets for the Sheraton Hotel event will be available at
