The UFC has confirmed that Canada’s Mitch Clarke and Ryan Jimmo will be on the UFC 161 card in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

It will be one month shy of a year since Mitch Clarke (9-2) last fought for the UFC. Clarke, who will be fighting John Maguire, lost to Anton Kuivanen at UFC 149 in Calgary in July 2012. Clarke suffered a knee injury in that bought but now is ready to take on Maguire, who will be debuting at Lightweight. It will be do or die for both Maguire and Clarke as both are coming into the June 15th matchup with two consecutive UFC losses.

“The Big Deal” Ryan Jimmo (17-2) will be fighting Igor Pokrajac (25-9). After scoring the Knockout of the Year at UFC 149, Jimmo suffered his first loss since his 2007 MMA debut. He will be looking to improve his record to 2-1 in the UFC with a win over Pokrajac. Pokrajac is coming into the fight with two consecutive defeats although his last one was overturned to a no contest following Joey Beltran’s positive drug test.

The two fights join a Bantamweight title main event and a fight card that already includes Rashad Evans, Dan Henderson, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Shogun Rua, and more.

Tickets for UFC 161 will go on sale on Friday, April 12 and presale for UFC 161 will be on Wednesday, April 10 for Fight Club members.

    @ Andre , people are pathetic losers ! Who believe doesn’t deserve to be there. Very unwarranted Mitch is one of , if not the hardest working guy in the gym , Mitch helps everyone in the gym and asks for nothing in return , it’s a shame that Canadians and ppl in mma don’t get behind him more ! I hope Mitch destroys Maguire in every facet of this fight ( which I believe he can), best of luck to Jimmo and the ginger.

    @Zach B,

    I really admire those people that do work hard in the gym and help people out. I believe you when you say he is a very nice dude and expects nothing in return but at the same time I don’t believe he deserves to be inside the UFC. He went in 9-0 after fighting light competition and selecting fights. Great job by his management team but I don’t think that was best for his career. If he does work as hard as you say he does then he will only continue to improve and will develop into the fighter that he wants to be much closer to his prime AND THEN enter the UFC. Unfortunately for him, if he doesn’t pull off a W against Maguire he will be delivered a pink slip by the organization and likely never fight for them again. As a UFC veteran though, I assure you he will be fighting much stiffer competition as the fighters trying to break into the organization will be lining up out the door.

    @Anon. It’s fine to constructively criticize the path that one chooses as a professional athlete. However, I feel that some people jealously hate on this msg board for no good reason other than their own insecurities. It’s easy to sit back and “thumbs down” or hate on Mitch under an anonymous screen name. It’s a lot harder to be in an athletes shoes and put your dignity and health on the line to pursue your dreams. Do you know how devistating it is to be beat down infront of your friends and family? Have you ever fought? Probably not. In fact the vast majority of the people who hate on extraordinary people living their dreams have probably never taken a risk in their lives. I for one think we should applaud our fellow country men trying to make it at those dreams. If they fail that’s ok too. At least they got off their asses and tried to do something great.

    If Mitch had a few losses on his record against stiffer competition before the ufc people would think he’s a bum or a loser for that. But no he had a crystal clear record going into the UFC and people think he’s undeserving of that opportunity. Guess what, the people Mitch needed to impress were the matchmakers at the UFC. Not some jealous losers hating on a msg board.

    Just my humble opinion
