Fivestar Fight League Press Release

Fivestar Fight League will return for their sixth installment on May 10 in Dawson Creek, BC. The card, entitled “Hierarchy”, will have six titles up for grabs; from bantamweight all the way up to heavyweight. Not only will the titles be up for grabs, but there will be number one contender bouts on the card as well. This is the first time a promotion has done this on a single card.

In the heavyweight division, Ryan “Vanilla Gorilla” Fortin (7-4) and Karl “Freak” Erickson (4-0) will go head-to-head for the Fivestar Fight League heavyweight championship. This bout is guaranteed to be exciting as Fortin has never been to the judges scorecards in his 11 professional bouts and Erickson has finished all four of his opponents in the very first round.

The middleweight title will be up for grabs as Brad Stewart (5-2) takes on Matt “The Riotmaker” Baker (8-3). These two will tango in a rematch from 2010 when they fought to a controversial split decision which Baker won.

Baker’s teammate “Ruthless” Ryan Chiappe (9-8) will take on the winner of Aaron Shmyr (4-2) and Sheldon Westcott (6-1) who are fighting in Yellowknife on April 13 at Fivestar Fight League 5 for the Fivestar Welterweight Title.

Zachary Gait (4-3) is coming off a unanimous decision victory at Fivestar Fight League 4 and will do battle with Chad “The Diamond” Freeman (7-5) for the lightweight championship belt.

The featherweight championship is also up for grabs as undefeated Travis Mathews (3-0) takes on one of the lower mainlands best featherweights, Shawn Albrecht (8-5).

Sean Quinn (7-5) will take on the always dangerous Eric Wilson (5-3) for the Fivestar Bantamweight title.

Nick Campbell (4-3) will take on Jon Ganshorn (5-3) in a battle of Saskatoon to determine the number one contender in the Fivestar Fight League light heavyweight division.

The only title that isn’t being contested at FFL 6 is the light heavyweight, as Adam MacDonald (4-0) and Peter Nolan (4-1) will be fighting April 13 (at Fivestar Fight League 5) in Yellowknife for the Fivestar Light Heavyweight Title.

I got someone that will fight Bergmann…or any of these Heavyweights!…and before i get slammed…im not hypin Craig…we literally have had 4 fights not happen this year… 1 guy got sick…the other 3 backed out… must have all got sick…think it was chicken flu…so hard in canada to find a heavyweight opponent and Five Star has 7 on one card…hook us up…Craig was suppose to fight for them on Feb. 22 against Fortin..dont know what happened there…i was told Grande Prarie Comission wouldnt approve fight…sounded fishy!…

  9. Shane BTP Mountney says:

Craig was out west…working and didnt turn down any fights… there was an offer for him to fight on wreck and rematch Vlad Starcencov…which Craig wants…but not on 3-4 weeks notice…as i said in a previous post…no mre short notice fights…want a minimum 6 weeks…last year was a learning experience…and we are not gonna make the same mistakes again…Craig will fight Vlad on any card..for any promotion…is he gets at least 6 weeks to train for it…no more being unprepared…he started back in gym last week and is get back in fight shape…so again…he didnt say no to fighting Vlad…he wants that fight bad…but with proper training camp….so i guess you didnt hear that part when we said no not on short notice…but i only had that conversation with one person…Craigs new manager….hmmmm

Waiting for BTP to pop up, lol. Nothing wrong trying to get wardog on the card at all. Bergmann a good test for sure. And why is Bergmanm not fighting for title against Fortin. Father Time hasn’t fought in years.

  12. Idolmaker says:

No what he’s saying is that Craig doesn’t train that regularly, if 3 weeks isn’t enough notice.

  13. Shane BTP Mountney says:

Guys you can bust my balls all you want….the fact of the matter is that Craig works 10 -12 hrs a day just like most of the mma fighters in canada….and whats to be at his best when he fights from now on…you cant knock him for that…i dont know any fighter that doesnt want to be at there best…Craig had to go outwest for the last 3 mths for work…and was able to train…like i said he back in the gym now…when the fight came up for Vlad…Craig hadnt been in the gym since the first week of Dec….so know it wasnt a good idea…at the time…Craig is a heavyweight that has to cut to make 265….and doesnt like cutting the weight in fight week…its funny you guys bash us cause Craig faught on short notice…and now when he wants a proper camp you speak against it…bottom line Craig is the guy who will fight anybody…last year showed him we just have to be a little smarter from now on….so bash away…its fun y that guys only want to fight him on short notice…i would love to see guys step up and fight him on a full camp…and if he loses than… at least he can say that i was at my best…and today my opponent was better…not have the excuses… i lost.. iwasnt prepared…it was short notice…

I wasnt bashing him just saying that’s all. And just curious who is his new manager? If he has 1 why are you still acting like 1?

  15. Shane BTP Mountney says:

  21. Demitri (trev) says:

    Bergman would never fight penner

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 6

  22. Diggin says:

Bergman definitely would fight penner. If anything Penner wouldn’t move up to fight Bergman

    Well-loved! Thumb up 7 Thumb down 2

  23. Demitri (trev) says:

Someone who liked the status “penner would never fight Bergman”

Please explain this? Some clear logic would be nice. Not a meat head opinion. Penner is moving up to fight for AFC. I’m sure he would move up to fight bergman, unless he actually retires

  24. PUCK says:

And just so you guys know over half the people on this card work over 12 hours a day and still fight. (including the HW’s) Thats what it takes? Fortin,Stewart,Peck,Dorthy,Miskenack,Klaussen,Wilson and most likey a bunch more that I don’t know? Weak excuse to me. Maybe someone will give you the perfect time, place and guy to fight someday? Your guy may be sitting a while…..I would look for new management again. Not trying to be rude or mean at all just saying excuse’s are like a sickness. Go fine a cure quick.
