Rashad, Henderson, More Confirmed for UFC Winnipeg
Rashad Evans (17-3-1) will take on Dan Henderson (29-9) in a fight that will not be the main event for UFC 161 in Winnipeg on June 15. Also confirmed for the card, were Soa Palelei and Stipe Miocic to go along with the Shogun vs Lil Nog bout that was announced at the press conference.
The UFC tweeted the following:
Confirmed for #UFC161 in Winnipeg – Shogun vs. Lil Nog, Hendo vs. Rashad, Miocic vs. Palelei and a main event still TBA! @UFC_CA
Evans and Henderson will be looking to redeem themselves after two uninspired performances in their last outings. At UFC 156, Evans lost a split decision to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira for his second consecutive loss. Evans previously lost to Jon Jones in his bid to regain his Light-Heavyweight title.
Henderson fought Lyoto Machida at UFC 157. In the bout, Henderson was not able to uncork his hands as the elusive Machida retreated throughout the bout. ‘Hendo’ lost a split decision following four consecutive wins in the UFC and Strikeforce.
The Heavyweight Soa Palelei (18-3) has worked his way back to the UFC and will be making his first appearance in the Octagon since 2007 when he lost to Eddie Sanchez. Palelei is on an eight fight win streak in Australian promotions since losing to Daniel Cormier in 2010. Palelei will take on Stipe Miocic (9-1) who was unbeaten until he ran into Stefan Struve at UFC on Fuel 5 in his last fight.
Tickets for UFC 161 will go on sale on Friday, April 12 and presale for UFC 161 will be on Wednesday, April 10 for Fight Club members.
