TJ Grant to Face Gray Maynard at UFC 160
News at night: Top-ten ranked lightweight contenders @TJ_Grant and @GrayMaynard will fight at UFC 160 May 25 in Las Vegas
Grant (20-5) asked to fight Jim Miller following his dominating performance at UFC on Fox 6. Instead of Miller, Grant will fight one of the best in the world as Gray Maynard (11-1) has not only beaten Miller but a who’s who of the 155 division including: Nate Diaz, Ken Florian, Clay Guida, and Frankie Edgar (in their first of three bouts).
Since moving down to Lightweight, TJ Grant has performed flawlessy and won all four fights. In his last bout, Grant stopped Matt Wiman in the first round. The Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native also has beaten Shane Roller, Evan Dunham, and Carlo Prater.
Maynard last fought in June 2012 in a lackluster fight where Clay Guida did not want to engage the powerful striker and wrestler. Since that fight, Maynard has suffered with a knee injury but now returns to fight Canada’s #1 Lightweight. at UFC 160 in May. With a win over Maynard, there is no doubt that Grant places himself into UFC title contender status.
