This Week’s AFC Contenders Show Cancelled

AFC-THUMBAFC Contenders 2, scheduled to take place three days from now, has been cancelled.

Top MMA News has confirmed this with Aggression Fighting Championship promoter Moin Mirza today. Mirza stated that the promotion was left with a single professional fight after Mike Newton’s opponent backed out and Jesse Fox was injured in training on Monday.

“With only one pro fight, the Edmonton Combative Sports Commission would not sanction the pro event and it made little sense,” cited Mirza.

The promotion confirmed that all three AFC shows in March will continue as planned and that the AFC Contenders 2 amateur fights will be moved to the March 23 AFC 17 show in Edmonton.

Will Beaumont be fighting Jenson or fadai in march?

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 5 Thumb down 5

I think it would be a little unfair to take the fight away from Fadai but hopefully they can find someone for Jenson to fight on that card… or there must be a Victoria card coming soon that he can get onto!

So wait, I don’t want to sound like a broken record here but….

ECSC was giving implied sanctioning to the show when the Amateurs out numbered. Was there a “there must be this many professional fights on the card for us to violate our own rules” clause?

    What’s the cut off?

Sad that Pat and the circus seem to be willing to ignore the development of new fighters. Nice message to send to the amateur community.
