It’s the Pierson Story at UFC 158
Another Canadian Welterweight has been added to the UFC 158 as Sean Pierson will take on Rick Story. The fight will take place in the Bell Centre in Montreal on March 16, 2013.
Pierson (13-6) enters the bout on a two fight win streak having defeated Jake Hecht and Lance Benoist. ‘The Punisher’ is 3-2 in his five UFC fights and hopes to continue his win streak in the city where he recorded his debut UFC win over Matt Riddle.
Pierson’s opponent will be one time Welterweight title contender Rick Story (14-6). Story is 7-4 in the UFC and at one time won six consecutive bouts during which he defeated the likes of Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks. Since the streak, Story has struggled and has won only a single fight in his last four UFC contests.
Pierson joins fellow Canadian 170lb fighters Georges St-Pierre, Rory MacDonald, Jordan Mein, and new Welterweight Patrick Cote on the UFC 158 card.
Pierson has a great chin but if he keeps this standing i dont see it ending well for him, hopefully he can get story on his back and punish him for a tko. Good luck nice to see a great card coming together
Sean fought Ellenberger and Dong Hyun Kim, so this isn’t even a step up really.
Sean has similar wrestling strengths and a nice boxing game from southpaw.
I think he matches up pretty well here.
He’ll get his chances on the feet. And he does absolutely have the credentials to put Story on his back.
And that could be very very interesting.
I like it!

robin, you said this isn’t really a step up seeing that he fought jake and DHK. well I f*cking hope it isn’t a step up, he got crushed by those guys lol. what he needs is a step down haha. tough fight for pierson. I don’t think he has the credentials to put a D1 wrestler on his back but he can probably stand and bang with him.
We’ll see.
I like this match up for him. Clean confident technical boxing will work against Story’s hook heavy brawling, especially for a southpaw, and RG Grant will have him ready on the feet.
Sean’s wresting for MMA is top notch. This ain’t college.
Story’s a good name too, so the payoff is really worth the effort.
Like it.
He’s gonna be the underdog, probably at least +250. I’m going to put $100 on him.
