Stout Looks to the Future at UFC 157
Canada’s number 2 ranked Lightweight Sam Stout is poised to welcome Strikeforce veteran Caros Fodor to the Octagon February 23rd at UFC 157. The match up was first announced by Canadian Press senior sports writer Neil Davidson on twitter yesterday afternoon then confirmed minutes later by UFC Canada’s official twitter.
Stout (18-8-1), will look to bounce back after dropping a unanimous decision to Canada’s 4th ranked Lightweight John Makdessi who used impressive technique to out strike Stout over three rounds. Prior to the Makdessi loss Stout had returned to the win column by besting Spencer Fisher in their final match of their exciting trilogy. “Hands of Stone” has gone 7-7 during his time in the UFC, here’s hoping Stout can find his groove and start stringing some wins together.
Fodor (7-2), also know as “The Future”, had an impressive run in Strikforce going 5-1 with his only loss coming at the hands of Strikeforce Lightweight title contender Pat Healy. Still very young in the game having fought his first pro bout in 2009, Fodor is under the tutelage of the legendary Matt Hume at AMC Pankration. Having fought last in march of 2012 it will be almost 11 months since his last fight, can Fodor shake of the ring rust? or will Stout shake it off for him?
UFC 157 goes down February 23rd from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The card will be main evented by the first ever women’s fight in the UFC with Ronda Rouse defending her UFC Women’s Bantamweight title against Liz Camouche. The card also features Dan Henderson returning after his injury to face Lyoto Machida and Canada’s 2nd ranked Bantamweight Ivan Menjivar will face Urijah Faber.
